Was this a home/home with them? If so, it escapes my memory (or it's being suppressed), what year did we travel up there to play them?

2008. The refs gifted Our Lord and Savior the game in the 4th quarter and then Lannard whined about them running up the score

2008. That year that they lost to Ole Miss, then Tebow gave his teary-eyed speech.

And yeah, that overturning of the out of bounds call swung what had been a close game in their favor.

Not that we were going to win anyway, our Marve and Jacory lead offense was hapless and helpless.
It wasn't even Marve or Jacory. It was the gutless play-calling on offense by good ol Patrick Nix

I was at that game. I left the stadium thinking we were ooozing with young talent and we were a year or 2 from being serious contenders. Pat Nix was so afraid. We hung with them for 3 quarters and then ran out of steam. Looking back the 2009 team was the team to do it. Wonder how we would have fared with golden coaching those guys

Idk. That would have been 4th down, they would have punted us the ball with about 6 or 7 mins left iirc and we were only down by 6. Who knows?

Nix called that game TERRIFIED. Although he did have a true freshman and RSF playing QB. We better have ACC refs for next year's game since they had SEC handlers when we went up there.

ahhh yes. Memories. Ugh.

Nix. Why did I waste my time talking to him at the UnderArmor game?

Good pull! I had forgotten about that ill-timed, random, ridiculous quote.

I vaguely remember that, what was it said about again?

It was Randall's absurd reply to a question about the last second field-goal. I suppose the inference was that the field goal was pouring salt in the wound, and that that kind of unsportsmanlike behaivour would turn recruits, HS coaches, media, the gods, etc against Urban Meyer. An empty, pointless thing to say,

I think next year will be a step forward for us while I believe ultimately that UF will take a step backwards next year. No way they match 11-1.

Wow how time flies......

I was at the 2008 game in the Swamp and I remember thinking that 5 years was going to be a long time before they play again......

My favorite game at the swamp was the 2002 game..... Mo Sikes interception Wow!!! My wife and her girlfriend got an avocado throw at them on the way back to the car because they kept thanking the Gator fans for letting the Canes practice on their field that evening........ Awesome.....

Our defensive scheme was NASTY that night. Bringing the pressure from everywhere. They got two really bad calls in their favor and Nix was indeed awful. Only way to win that game was balls out. Defense did, offense didn't back them up.

Not playing them for another 5 years was the actual thing that 'helped us more then we ever would have thought' that night. Things are finally looking up.

Gators lose a decent amount on defense especially if guys like Jenkins and Floyd leave early. Our O really could light up their rather inexperienced d early in the year.
