Miami returns the top two leading WRs in the ACC, but that didn't stop the staff from giving Cam Ward another major weapon. On Sunday evening, Houston WR Sam Brown announced he is coming east to join the Hurricanes.
Brown, an All-Big 12 honorable mention selection, put up 815 yards and 3 scores last season despite the team's struggles at quarterback. He signed with West Virginia as a four-star prospect out of high school, but later transferred to Houston where he played under current Miami OC Shannon Dawson. Brown caught 41 passes for 471 yards and 4 TDs as a redshirt freshman before breaking out in 2023.
In a wide receiver group short on size, Brown brings a 6'2, 195-pound along with a verified 4.45 forty and 38-inch vertical leap. He is a three-sport star (basketball, football and track) who also played both ways on the gridiron. He is particularly dangerous after the catch, where he averaged 6.7 additional yards and was second in the conference in broken tackles. Brown joins Cam Ward, Reese Poffenbarger, Damien Martinez, Zach Carpenter, CJ Clark, Marley Cook, Jaylin Alderman, Savion Riley, Meesh Powell and D'yoni Hill in Miami's portal class.
