then explain to me what the issue is. you honestly think these players prepare the right way for games?
I think it's coaching. ive said ti multiple times. when its once ro twice its players. when everyone has the same issues game after game all year long with no improvement and no adjustment from the staff, its coaching. we are being out coached on defense all year.

So one year the defense is alright, the second year it goes into full bat**** crazy mode?

Nah.

so your explanation is the entire defensive roster isnt watching film? lol come on now. we literally didnt even bother to game prep for GTech from a coaching standpoint.

most evidently, they do not watch enough film to prepare.

It doesn't matter if you're 4-3, 3-3-5, 4-2-5, etc. That's just personnel. None of that determines alignment and assignment.

At some point all of those defenses morph into the same thing. 🤷🏻‍♂️

What matters most is alignment and eyes.
Alignment, reads and keys.
Ok, the alignment issue has been around from early in the season. Is it talent or coaching that we can’t get aligned? How do we get out numbered 6 to our 4 players on runs to the perimeter?

If the same thing is happening all year, it could be coaching.

Unless anybody here believes that our players are THAT bad and/or THAT stupid.

Literally the same grouping they use every week except you subbing out baron for alston or Bryant. So what’s the need?
Speed on the edge, flexibility.... maybe using a smaller OLB/DE hybrid like Bryant can be quick and strong enough TO SET THE EDGE and rush the passer with quickness and speed.

Would you be talking about this one?

Both..it’s set up wrong and nobody adjusts.

This is as bad as that donofrio goaline alignment photo.... possibly worse cause its been happening literally all season and Guidry ALSO keeps stunting our Edges inside giving up the outside with such ease... genuinely insane
Earlier in the year I mentioned in the Louisville game they had a 3rd and short. We come out lined up with 4 DL. We had two LBs inside over the guards and all of our DL were lined up outside of the tackles. Chaney handoff up the middle for 20+. I had to rewind and watch it again because I didn’t believe what I was seeing. I see this continued.

So on this play Guidry called for a Bear Front (5-front)...

However...
They just stayed in the base alignment and didn't adjust to the unbalanced set.

We (at the HS level) run a ton of Bear Front versus heavy formations... but even our kids know to slide the front to the unbalanced side.
On this play we would've made a simple "Over!" call to slide our front to the strong/unbalanced side.
This would give us a 1-technique, 5-technique and 7-technique to the play side. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Pretty simple stuff.

I just don't understand how this is an issue in week 10+.

Beginning of the season it's somewhat understandable... but by now we should know how to lineup to basically every formation.

I know kids make mistakes... but these are 18-22 year olds with very ample preparation time and tons of resources.
If they're still making alignment/assignment mistakes at this point of the season I have to question how well they're being prepared.

There's several options to defend that formation and play.

This would be our base call...

This gives you an alley defender (F) who should be unblocked. The H-back has to deal with the (R) who is holding contain...
Which also occupies the H-back and keeps him from reaching the (W) Linebacker.
The (W) and (F) should be screaming to the alley unblocked. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You have these options as well...
