Vanderbilt cornerback Ja'Dais Richard, who recently visited Coral Gables over the weekend, announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes on Monday night. With three years of eligibility remaining, the former four-star recruit will be a valuable addition to the Hurricanes roster. Richard's impressive performances late in the 2022 season led to his ascension to the top of the cornerback depth chart at Vanderbilt during spring practice. The 6-2, 197-pound defensive back has the frame that the Canes are looking for and showed flashes of his potential during his freshman season.
Miami continues to strengthen their roster through the transfer portal, adding key pieces like Richard to build depth on the team. After having added probable starters Matt Lee, Javion Cohen, Davante Brown, and Francisco Mauigoa amongst others before spring practice, Mario Cristobal and his staff are looking to add a new wave of transfers in the coming days and weeks.
Richard joins Brown, Daryl Porter, and Te’Cory Couch, who are the most experienced of Miami’s remaining corners after losing Tyrique Stevenson and D.J. Ivey to the NFL. Incoming freshmen Damari Brown and Robert Stafford could also make their way into the rotation sooner rather than later.
