This is why we watch

The defensive rotations need to be better. You got to get your talent out there in spurts, before injuries, to maintain your starters throughout the whole game. The DL and Bissainthe and Mauigoa looked exhausted in the 4th.

I’m probably as high on Cam as anyone. But I wouldn’t be surprised if Arroyo is the best pro on this roster. He looks like he was built in a lab.
this ... one opinion that i value is louis riddick ... and he raved about arroyo ... cam may be first round because of the thirst for qb talent in the league

The fact you get to show your sons the magic we get to see this season reminds me a lot (and I am sure most of the people on the board) of being young in 2000/01/02 watching Dorsey and the Canes.

We obviously know the tremendous anguish your children will face as sports fans over the next two decades, but lets enjoy it for now 🤣

Yep I was 10 and 11 and wont ever forget a wide open Andre Johnson getting in the end zone as we stomped Nebraska. Also unfortunately even more so won't ever forget the sting of the Fiesta Bowl the year after...

Cam is a first rounder in my view regardless. And I think he’ll be the best pro. But Arroyo wouldn’t surprise me, and as high I am on Cam it’s a testament to how talented Arroyo is because I wouldn’t have even entertained the thought of anyone else being a better pro coming into this season.

Been a fan way too long to share the same optimism going into this game that some of you on here were spouting.

I didn't touch the spread even though I was tempted.

The ACC has always been crazy and unpredictable. We are going to get every single teams best.

For all the macho chest thumpers, this is why some fans are still cautiously optimistic before crowning our beloved canes. It doesn't mean we're soft. It just means we've watched a lot of canes football lol

Parity is very real in this sport. With all that said, I still think we're a legit top 10-15 team and yesterday will hopefully spur something positive moving forward.

I still think we're going to make the playoffs, but we aren't blowing out every single ACC opponent like the early 2000 teams of ours

It's very rare for a team to blow out conference opponents all season. And that's okay.

Last year, FSU had 3 wins vs conference opponents that were only 1 score wins. It happens.

We are going to get every teams best shot cause they want to beat The U. HOWEVER, unlike teams of the past that would cave, this team may not cave and actually win these games. And that's cool with me. The more close wins we have, the more confident I think we'll feel when we're in these tight games.

The BS holding call on Bell was the most significant play of that game. It almost changed the course of our entire season
Crazy because that’s not even hyperbole. We go up 21-7 there and we may be on our way to another blowout. But that’s call happens instead and we’re in a dog fight until the end. If that call goes the other way on the Hail Mary, we’re looking at that call as possibly the season ender in week 1 of ACC play.

21-7 on a team that is already down this season, they could've quit. But the INT gave them unnecessary confidence and confidence is a major boost.

Looking forward to seeing player grades on this one.

And now everyone is only talking about the holding called in VT on the long touchdown run. Exact same scenario except VT scored a TD anyway and we threw a pick. Can't make it up.

Good write up D, as always!

It was nice meeting you with my family under the tunnel. You were clearly in a hurry, but thanks for stopping and taking a minute to say hello to a fellow Cane die hard.

My wife and girl LOVED the game and the environment.

As for my "super bowl" analogy, the same USF that ran us ragged in the first half is getting whipped by Tulane 17-0, and their QB, Tulane, is 10/10 for 160

Let's enjoy this one.

There is plenty to pick apart. Virginia Tech exposed a flawed team. But this is the type of game that makes fans.

My boys are 10 and 8. Despite their love of sports, they never wanted to watch the Canes. Saturdays meant boring games, players they've never heard of, and Papa yelling in frustration. Now, they can't stop talking about what they saw.

You had legitimate star players like Cam Ward and Xavier Restrepo making plays in front of a national audience. Fake FGs, deep FGs, big returns, laterals, Hail Mary, a loud Rock. We are blessed to have watched it.

- Much of the game felt like Georgia Tech. Turnovers and missed opportunities. Cam Ward and a good replay booth changed the story. In the post-game, Ward called it a "turning point in the season." Time will tell, but I believe him.

- There were a ton of NFL scouts in the building, and I'd bet the buzziest name is Elijah Arroyo. He ran like a thoroughbred, played physical, and is a walking advertisement of Mario's culture:

- We won't have to look far for Arroyo's replacement. Riley Williams showed he can run and continues to flash as an in-line blocker. He's huge.

- You could tell we were missing two of our best players. Reuben Bain's strength and finishing ability would have helped against the 234-pound Kyron Drones. I love Markel Bell's progression and future, but Jalen Rivers would have been more consistent against Virginia Tech's good pass rush.

- I'd expect teams to follow Virginia Tech's blueprint. Force Miami to tackle in space, take away the run, challenge the WRs to beat you deep, and capitalize on mistakes.

- Tough game for Miami's linebackers. I hope we give Kiko Mauigoa some more breathers. He is a big guy and plays so hard. He's already a little stiff in his hips, so when he gets tired he can look bad in space. I want him full energy and making impact plays in the backfield.

- Virginia Tech played incredible. They aren't consistent or well-coached, but they have a high ceiling by ACC standards. We got their best shot. Drones gave our undersized front four major problems with his size.

- Defensively, we get Bain back but are pretty beat up. Simeon Barrow, Jaden Harris and Elijah Alston all missed time (Barrow got some snaps late). True freshmen like Justin Scott and Zaquan Patterson were getting crunch time snaps. I wonder if a guy like Armondo Blount is next up.

- In a secondary that lacks impact talent, I continue to be impressed by OJ Frederique. He pulled the trigger and made a great tackle on a screen, and his phantom PI was great coverage. We would be in deep trouble without him.

- I'm not too worried about the offense. We scored five touchdowns and put up 508 yards. The turnovers were a good wake-up call for a player getting so much Heisman hype. We do lack a truly dynamic, Santana Moss-type playmaker that scares defenses. It's easy to see why Chris Johnson, Jr. is on the fast track.

Last year, we started 4-1. And the 1 felt like ten. We are 5-0. Let's enjoy it.

Wait, so after all of these NIL signings we now learn - AFTER THIS GAME - that we have an "undersized" DLine? You're killing me...lol.

With all the injuries both before game and then in game, there wasn't much left to rotate in

That’s why I said u rotate early before the injuries start to pile up. Football is a hard sport your body wears down and eventually breaks. it should be incorporated into the game plan, it was kind of too late during the Vtech game to do it.
