Still very baffled by no offer for McKenzie. And dont give me the "whats the point, he wouldnt qualify anyway," excuse either. We offered Trayone real early in the process when we all knew he had grade issues and would a lot for him to get in. ND is out of the picture now. Looks like hes heading to VT, where he will take a massive **** on Doritos face for the next 4 years. Awesome.

some of these arguments make no sense. all his jags were in 2011. last year he got gilbert who was all big 10, corn and griffin who were all american caliber. We have two highly regarded busts in jelani and grimble. also, dequan ivory we flipped out of no where to us from louisville and was well-regarded. unfortunately, we only seem to get dt's who can qualify but are lazy. Our academics hurt us with Stuckey who is a beast and honestly, travonte might not be coming here because of his grades and just saving face.

Dude, Valentine's grades are fine. There's plenty of other reasons why he's not coming here. But grades aren't one of them.

I think you are wrong. I believe UM requires two years of a foreign language class and that TV had only completed one year. He would have to take online classes to get the 2nd year under his belt. LSU apparently does not have this requirement. If this is accurate it means that if TV inked with UM and was unsuccessful completing the additional coursework that he would not have been accepted. There are reasons for TV to go to LSU (cough... Genron ...cough) and this very well could be one of the "scare" tactics used by LSU.

Despite comments to the contrary from Valentine and so-called insiders, his transcript would face serious scrutiny if he were to sign with Miami. Arguably not so much at LSU of the other SEC football factories (will exclude Vandy and even the Gators). We're talking about a kid who transferred high schools, by all accounts was under water academically, apparently has taken some online classes and currently attends a school that may raises eyes with Miami admissions and the NCAA Eligibility Center. Still desperately want him to sign with Miami, but even if he does probably couldn't breath easy till he's enrolled in classes.

****, extra scholarships sitting around and still no offers to McKenzie, Dowels, Cerenod, or Battle?

WTH, I know those guys have potential, but at this point don't you think it's better to bank those scholarships for next year?

I take McKenzie and Battle without a second thought.

Cerenod has a lot of upside and is very athletic for his size, but I guess they don't think he fits in with their scheme. He's compact, strong, active, and moves very well. Given the state of DT, I'd take him.

I'm not a fan of Mayes. He may be small, but Dowels can stick. I guess the staff didn't care about Bethel, and if we miss on Jackson, then we only take 1 CB this cycle. If we wanted to add one, I'm good with bringing in Dowels.

Meanwhile, Florida gonna have a top 5 class coming off a 4-8 season. **** our lives.

Makes you wonder what excuse the Al Golden loving, Don Bailey Jr supporting crowd will have for this disappointing recruiting cycle.

Top 10 class and one of the best and deepest recruiting classes we've ever had at Miami is a disappointment?

The only disappointment is the vast majority of the "fans"

Not to be the "well actually" guy, but this isn't going to end up as a top 10 class if we strikeout on NSD, as expected. It went from top 3, to top 5, to top 10, to likely somewhere in the mid-teens. Not saying it's a bad class or that I'm not very happy to have the recruits who have stuck by their commitments, but it is what it is.

Anything Valentine says at this point is nothing but an excuse. He committed to Miami when we were running the same scheme. That is Les talking. If he goes to LSU he will have committed to four separate teams in a couple of years. Not sure, but that may be a record for indecision.

With way things seem to be going lately I will just be happy if he keep everyone we have now and nobody flips to other schools on nsd

More mental gymnastics here.........

Lets start with the first comment, we had plenty of jags in the 2012 class, that was the problem there, we were all hyped up about Al's evals and how he took all these unknown kids at Temple and made NFL players out of them. Now many have already left and kids like Larry Hope have been passed on by on the depth chart by true freshman like Corn. Corn is a stud and Griffin is mega stud, but the Griffin thing was all fools gold. The kid never ever had a chance to qualify, all one had to do is listen to the Texas teams' posters, they all said that while a true 5 star he could barely read and that they would bet the house that he wasnt ever gonna play major college ball anywhere. Gilbert was an honorable mention Big 10, talk about stretching the truth there...... Also Ivory was not well-regarded, he looked like a big kid that could play but he wasnt in anyway shape or form considered a top DT. The overall DT recruiting has been a massive failure all around. Yes even without TV we had a decent pull, but decent isnt good enough when struck out the previous 2 years. Then that last line and sentence, Stuckey is decent and would have helped us but you really gonna call a player that was basically FSU scraps a beast? Not even gonna touch the TV line.....

We are once again in dire straits with another staff, and as a Miami fan it just sucks. Hopefully Al turns it around, but right now there is zero ziltch on the table that he does....

Funny, people were whining that Louisville had better defensive linemen than we do just a short while ago. But when you talk about Ivory being not well regarding, he was a Louisville commit that Golden flipped late.

Not sure where all this extra scholarships laying around bull**** is coming from because is simply not the case. Right now, Miami sits with with 56 players on 'ships. That's counting the graduates and Bunche leaving. We have 26 commits which puts us at 82. We have 9 ships that have to give up over a three year period, so this puts us right on track.

Lastly, I can see perhaps signing one or two more considering grades and attrition.....but there is no gross mismanagement of 'ships being left on the table...

So I was reading Scout's commitment tracker page. Two kids that make no sense to me are JoJo Nicholas and Ravian Pierce. Both are highly rated prospects and are picking from crap schools (USF, FAU, Arky). Do they have commitable offers from our staff? Could we get on them now and have a shot? Are they simply overrated and we were never interested?

Don't understand why VT commited in the first place if he wanted to play in a more aggressive defense.
It's not like it has changed.

First, the 9 ships can be taken at any time over 3 years. Sure they could take 3 each year but they can split it a different way as well.

Second, the school is trying to claim that they some of the ships they self-imposed last year should count towards the 9. Not saying it will work, just this is where the school may have some additional ships.

Third, not sure if the 56 number is correct but that is neither here nor there.

Can't blame Valentine for wanting to play in an aggressive defense. That's what defenses are supposed to be. Aggressive!! Don't have to be a college student to see the difference. Gilliard would be an excellent replacement in the event Valentine chooses LSU. We can't afford keep losing the top DT's in the State of Miami territories and expect to see the huge improvements we need on defense . From a DT quality and depth perspective we won't stand a chance stopping the teams we need to beat to win the ACC.

I would have been happy if we added McKenzie as the first scholly offered! That kid is a playmaker and I totally see him blowing up somewhere. But other than him, I am ok just saving the ships.....

Aren't we massively under the number anyway? We played last year at like 75. We only have to forfeit 3 a year.

******* offer everyone you think is half decent.

Because the "aggressive defense" garbage don't got **** to do with why he ain't comin

This was already denied. And while we can move the nine around over the 3 years, it's been stated they're planning to be at 82 this year.
