Putting this one out quick because a lot of news is dropping fast:

- Miami trending with Top 100 players WR JoJo Trader (Chaminade) and TE/WR Caleb Odom (Carrollton, GA). Nothing imminent I am aware of, but they would give Miami a huge start to their pass-catcher overhaul with blue-chip WR Chance Robinson (St. Thomas Aquinas), who committed on Saturday.

- I expect a run of commits and Portal additions. As Gaby hinted at on 247, I expect commits from DB Dylan Day (Baton Rouge, LA), OL Juan Minaya (Paramus, NJ) and S Isaiah Thomas (Clearwater). Miami is also trending for CB Ricky Knight (Benjamin), with FSU also in pursuit. People in the building (especially Coach Guidry) are very excited about Day. His frame looked long on his visit with room to add weight, and he has solid testing numbers to go along with outstanding film. He will upgrade the physicality, versatility and instincts of the class immediately. Minaya is someone Mirabal has targeted from the jump. He goes big-name hunting, but he also has his personal giants. Word on Thomas (originally from Toronto) is that he is a big-time talent and should be fully recovered in fall from his knee injury.

- I understand there will be a mixed reaction to a flood of non-blue chip commits, but remember that there were a ton of elite players on campus this month and they all left loving Miami. Those processes will take more time and I'll have more scoop on those visits later in the week. The kids identified above are prospects that Miami has evaluated and prioritized early.

- There is about to be a wave in the Portal. Watch the DT position. As I've been saying for weeks, Miami doesn't just want someone big- they want someone big and athletic. They will add a RB and a nickel. D2 All-American WR JaQuae Jackson is enjoying the recruiting process but Miami is firmly in that battle. Nothing done yet. I expect us to land Lou Cristobal (Georgia State starter) to compete with Ryan Rodriguez at backup center. The priority going forward with be corner.

- Another name to watch is Chris Wheatley-Humphrey from South Plantation. Miami loves him and is picking up momentum.

The depth we have is better then Cristobal. He's only getting an offer because he's Mario nephew lets be 100 about the whole situation. He's a low G5 depth quality OL who is going to have 0 P5 offers other then us. He's never going to play and will never crack the 2 deep lineup. There are levels to ****, it doesn't matter how good your technique is and how hard you work when you are 6 FT 270 IOL getting bull rushed by a 6'4 325LB blue chip DT name Big John from Clemson who squats 675 LBs and runs a 4.9

2nd sting center definitely makes sense. And it does not preclude UM from pursuing any other portal target. This is not an either/or issue.

If bringing in a kid to fight for backup center makes a bit of difference, we’re in deep ****.

It’s been stated over and over that mirabal and Cristobal want a bigger OL, yet we’re going after a 270 lb center who was a fringe starter on a terrible lower level team. They should know he’s not an upgrade in the depth department.

I know we’re not getting a P5 starter to come play backup C as a transfer, but this kid isn’t an improvement in any way.

I guess we just need warm bodies

Tell me about all the film you watched of him to come up with this judgment.

Was he the starter? Seemed more like a rotational guy who was plugged in due to injuries. Are you sure he has offers & would go start? His team wasn’t the best & couldn’t even lock that down. Just don’t see the rush on taking a kid nobody wants. (No disrespect)

Cristobal is supposed to be an OL expert after 20 years, but ive become an expert in ****** football after 20 years and i can tell you this is what it looks like

Don't forget there is about 15-16 players not practicing! About 7-8 injured and 7-8 recruits not here yet!

Just call it what it is, We JUST had post last year saying we had to get bigger on oline, corches were saying guys are small with Rodriguez and Seymore but we "landing" a ******* 5'11 270 pound guy to do what exactly.. Dude will never contribute unless we still expect to get smacked by MTSU types..

He is not even worth a mention, dude is walkon quality corches son type, get in on blowouts and get the family treatment. It is what it is..

So much animosity for the 85th spot on a bad roster.

I don’t want him here either, but the amount of kilobytes wasted is truly awe inspiring.

This is a 7-5 to 8-4 roster at best. Who cares?

My issue is it sets a dumb precedent. There’s no upside to adding him outside of a PWO spot. If we want a stronger roster, we have to add stronger players

It was in OP as the bank, he not worth a mention really.. Let buddy enroll with the walkons and call it a day. I never hear PWO until they commit and everyone is like who?
