With the team off for spring break, the staff is even more locked in on recruiting. Here are some names to monitor as business begins to pick up:

- Miami is aggressively pursuing offensive linemen in this class, which they believe is the best in years. This includes high-profile uncommitted targets (Jackson Cantwell, Keenyi Pepe) and flips. Two potential targets for a flip: four-star Mississippi State commit Emanuel Tucker (New Albany, MS) and Louisville commit Joel Ervin (Fort Myers). Miami is very high on the upside of both.

Miami also feels it is right in the game for Canon Pickett (Tampa) despite a strong push from Clemson. Some other names worth monitoring at OL include Breck Kolojay (IMG), Chancellor Campbell (St. Petersburg, FL), Da'Ron Parks (Sarasota, FL) and Micah Smith (Vero Beach, FL). These are all takes in a historic year for Florida OL. Sam Greer (Akron, OH) is another name to monitor.

- Miami has a legitimate shot at TE Ian Premer (Great Bend, KS), who visits this month. It will not be easy to pull him from the Midwest, but he has family in Naples.

- Names to monitor at DE include blue-chippers Asharri Charles (Venice, FL), Jaquez Wilkes (Wadley, AL) and Anthony "Tank" Jones (Mobile, AL).

- At defensive tackle, some of the top targets include James Johnson (Northwestern via Fort Myers), Vodney Cleveland (Birmingham, AL), Jaimeon Winfield (Dallas, TX), Keshawn Stancil (Raleigh, NC), Corey Wells (Petal, MS), and Oregon commit Tomuhini Topui (Orange County, CA).

- Wide receivers to track include Calvin Russell (Northwestern), Jasen Lopez (Chaminade), Jase Matthews (Leaseville, MS), Tristan Keys (Hattiesburg, MS) and Somourian Wingo (St. Augustine, FL).

- At linebacker, in addition to the obvious names (Izayia Williams, Tyler Atkinson), Miami is strongly pursuing Jacob Eberhart (St. Louis, MO) and CJ Sanna (Columbus, OH).

- At cornerback, some of the names we like are Danny Odem (Orlando, FL), Michigan commit Brody Jennings (Jacksonville, FL), Georgia commit Jontavius Wyman (Atlanta, GA) and CJ Hester (Cocoa, FL).

- At safety, keep an eye on Cortez Redding (Atlanta, GA), Tariq Green (Atlanta, GA) and Florida commit Devin Jackson (Orlando, FL).

- 2027 CB Kenton Dopson from Miami Norland commits tonight. Miami has a great shot there.

@DMoney Around this time last year, you said on the podcast we had the momentum to be a top 5 class. It wasn't just you that believed this, everyone on this board saw/felt the same thing. Although I think our 2025 class is a lot better than what the ranking shows and we have some studs there, we did however miss out on some of the dbs and top end wrs (Wilson, Brown, etc.). It seemed like we lost all momentum come November/early December. What do we need to do differently this time around in order to land an elite class? Is the staff taking a different approach this year?

I love the 2025 class and we added elite dbs through the portal, so it all worked out in the end for us. However, I don't think we can afford another slip again, especially when we need a strong Oline, WR and DB class

I think the defensive performance cost us some kids, like Gavin Nix and possibly Drake Stubbs and DJ Pickett.

But in retrospect, I overestimated the impact of a good '24 season and underestimated the impact of a bad '23 season. Most of these kids commit before the season, and most of those commits stick.

I think the relevant comparison will be what our commitment looks like in August 2025 versus August 2024.

With Dopson committing so early, is there a thought he may reclassify? Feel like that's somewhat of a trend - early commit followed up by reclassifying into the current class.

Similarly, they project CJ Hester as a CB and not a Safety?

If so, I need to move some names around on the position boards.

D$ I think Miami have a really good chance at Tyler Atkinson. He is signed to Adidas so hopefully they help us out with him

Hopefully not let a kid have ties or be legacy kids, or live by an elite school that is recruiting them. You can pretty much know just by where a kids from where they are going a lot of the time. Like I would be concerned if an Atlanta GA kid picks us who UGA ain’t really push for. Especially with a school like UGA being up. If they were down that’s a different story.
That’s the way I see it at least.
