This should let you know that recruiting battles have always been about money.

We obliterated UF & are the reason why their season completely fell off the rails. You would think that holds weight in the eyes of recruits, but as you can see... It don't.
But let’s have had the same season with the promise of a 5 star Qb next season and we would be in the “load more” section in recruiting rankings.

I refuse to believe it’s the $EC…. Recruits would come up with a different reason even if we were in that conference…oh they don’t have their own stadium…. It’s not a college town…blah blah…. Will always be something

Year we are on the same page. Theres a micro and a macro here that’s pretty fascinating really

Mario flipping and not getting flipped in return has been the most impressive part of whatever our system is doing so far
Mario def flips more then he gets fliipped from but there have been some highly rated notable losses. Rashada, Connor Lew, Cormani, Kevin Riley, come to mind. Some of those losses have been blessings (cormani) but some have set us back like Lew. I think every program gets players poached but Mario does a good job overall of keeping the guys committed. Can’t think of many coaches who do a better job, maybe Sark at Texas

Yeah 4 in 3 years when Al Golden used to get that many in June

I agree he has looked okay. But he’s a true freshman and has won two massive games against Kentucky and LSU. I understand Kentucky is down but it’s still a tough team to play as a true freshman.

If a true freshman miami qb beat lsu and Kentucky this fanbase would be even more insufferable, trust me
Lagways stats vs LSU were the very definition of pedestrian. He did nothing more than most decent QBs in FBS could do in that game.

I think you mean Texas’ NIL do a better job of preventing defections.

There’s no way people are trying to compare Lagway to Emory. Delusion at its finest.

Update is promising, just don’t let UF outspend us.

Just posted in Gators tears… this is like eating the maggots from a dead carcass snd pretending it’s filet mignon then getting sloppy seconds from your biggest rivals

Agreed.

Different topic for a different day (and ultimately a fascinating case study down the road), but recruiting is transitioning to $$ and less “recruiting”; hence, I’m not really sure how much of an advantage having a recruiter as an HC is anymore compared to the X’s and O’s guys. We will see, I have no lean right now in that regard. It’s almost like the recruiter has been relegated to the tiebreaker, when the money is equal or close to it. Without the money, the recruiting is secondary.

Just a completely different age of football.
What are you talking about? Do you think recruits signed with Meyer, Kelly, Saban, Smart, Fisher and Swinney because of their winning personalities?

It was cold, hard cash in an era when nobody else could pay (at least to the same degree) without getting sanctions from the NCAA.

Being a recruiter now matters more than anything - you're going to get paid regardless. It's about finding the right fit for you - a staff / location that you vibe with. Cristobal's honest approach is going to continue to win him a lot of recruiting battles.

And then what? They'll cross the line to play here? They'll work hard and contribute? They win?
What you're bender out of shape about is different than recruiting updates.

But hey, do you booboo

Baxter, David Stone, and Jeremiah probably hurt the most of all.

Mario does a god job of keeping guys from decommitting.

The problem is that the guys hes flipping are overated. People think its huge when we flip someone from Ohio State.

Its not. Do you think OSU would let an impact player leave?

He's not flipping these guys as much as they're original schools are pushing them out.

Look at the LB committed to OSU right now. Alford. Now look at their whole class. He's not even the highest rated LB or DE in their class right now. But its supposed to be a big deal that we got him?

He'd be the second highest rated guy in our class. He's like the 8th or 9th for OSU.

Mario doesn't have us in play for the correct guys.

I don't have one. I'm merely trying to temper the hype that always results with these updates.

People get overly excited, their expectations rise and then we lose and everything crashes down and people get unspeakably angry. Rinse and repeat. (me included)
You cannot overspend on a recruit. You pay what the recruit is worth to you. It’s like beauty in the eyes of the beholder.

Idk flipping two OSU impact guys in Scott and Lyle last year, Fletcher year before was a big deal but I agree we need more impact players overall. OSU ended up getting the upper hand by winning the JS sweepstakes.
