Overrated is overstated. Talented players hopefully are getting the fundamentals at the youngest stages thru HS. I know that’s a big ask, but if they have them then it’s repetition and muscle memory. Good coaches teach the nuances of their positions. For example, Coach Beard has helped talented receivers learn the nuances of cuts and separation. We see that on the field. A good QB coach can improve a kid from good, to very good and maybe great. Coaching counts, if the kid is coachable. That’s where recruiting comes in.

We're saying the same thing at the end of the day.

That does not make coaching overrated. Unless you consider coaching = hiring coaches, which I don't. We have the season with the most upsets since 2007.

Coaching matters. A ton. Good coaching = better development = smaller bust rate (pause)
Never said it didn't.

Not talking about recruiting, talking about on-field-results. People on here connect both.

All I want people to have is realistic expectations about recruiting.

Or you can go nuts and post booty gifs till the servers collapse. That's also appreciated.
on field results are different. I'd agree most on here are annoyed about the loss. however you're bringing that up in the Bank about recruiting. I get you, this just ain't the thread is what I'm saying

I don’t think we’re losing out on Pickett. I believe he’ll be a cane.
I think the whole "winning program" schtick is going to back him into a corner because LSU sucks and I think UGA loses in the SEC title game and gets left out the CFP. And in the end, he will go with the team that just makes sense...UM. (And we are going to up his bag after we strike out on other prospects. LOL)

If that happens Georgia is still a winning program

Why we always gotta go last tho? We basically wait until the week/day of signing day to see if we hit on major targets. Its like we gotta make sure the kids eat first. I would like some in season hits every other year or so. 🤣

As adults who don’t have any skin in the game it’s easy for us to see this.

But the kids and their parents get blinded by delusions of grandeur and fall for it. Just like the Rashadas
The rashadas I candidly understand for those exact reasons. But his departure and fall out and lawsuit were highly publicized and were recent with the same players involved. You would hope parents, even if blinded by a big number, would have that in mind and ask tough questions and get financial commitments in writing.

cormani is trash. he and Rashada were a mess in recruiting.
Kevin Riley had no choice. they were going to get his pops out of jail for him.
WERE I mean did they?

You do know Alford is ranked just outside the top 100 at 106 in the composite right? And the #11 overall LB
I'm well aware.

The problem is that he's OSUs 3rd highest COMMIT at LB/DE, and he's at the top of our BOARD.

It doesn't hurt OSU if he leaves. It hurts us by not not even getting him.

We will never compete for big games if this is how recruiting goes.

Praying we get a 2nd or 3rd priority castoff from OSU in year 4.

Why don't we have the #1 or #2 LB already committed?

I agree he has looked okay. But he’s a true freshman and has won two massive games against Kentucky and LSU. I understand Kentucky is down but it’s still a tough team to play as a true freshman.

If a true freshman miami qb beat lsu and Kentucky this fanbase would be even more insufferable, trust me
Our true freshman last year beat a 9 win Clemson team then went down to the wire with undefeated FSU on the road.

He didn’t light up the stat sheet but neither has Lagway. Lagway hype to this point is based off a recruiting ranking

he is not a cast off from OSU. we been flipping kids they want since Mario got here and they had to break the bank to keep Jeremiah.
we could have the #1 player in the country committed and some of you guys will say he was a cast off that no one else wanted.

Because we are coming off 3 bad seasons in a row and OSU is a year in year out title contender who finishes top 5 in recruiting every year.

That could be why but what do I know

You realize that recruiting and who becomes a star is a numbers game right?

You stack as many elite kids as you can see who becomes the star.

You know how many higher ranked kids didn’t pan out on Bama or at UGA vs the lower ranked kid?

Plus the rankings are done by these 3rd parties who we know are influenced by various outside factors when making their rankings.

For all we know the canes rank Alford higher than the others in their evals.

There isn’t much separating these kids in top 200 when we aren’t talking about generational talents.

I know that doesn’t fit the sky is falling Mario sucks at everything narrative you were going for though.

You're right. We could have.

But. We. Didn't.

Even with the best QB in the nation.

We flipped other guys. Tell me, are the guys we got having an impact like Jeremiah Smith.

No, they're not. OSU knew which guy they NEEDED, and which guys they could let walk.

really? they wanted fletcher, they wanted Lyles, they wanted Justin Scott, hey wanted Lightfoot who dominated the all American game.
First off, Jeremiah is great but they force feed him. in the big games, he hasn't exactly taken over. You act like we got scrubs.
If we got Jeremiah smith, this board would be talking about how could we miss on Ryan williams.
