@DMoney does this reflect a level of confidence in Baby Tua's ability to get his waiver through? Because if we can still get him...I kind of love the take. If we don't, then this is a wild gamble that doesn't seem like what we need at the moment.

He literally said they're continuing to pursue other QBs. Multiple. There is zero intention for this to be the only QB transfer they get. Until they get one, feel free to keep the trolls rolling. If they don't get one, I'll join you. But I've got a shiny silver nickel that says Emory, Jacurri, Judd, and Rosinbagger are NOT the only QBs on the roster come fall camp. We'll see.

My read: We aren’t going to be big players in the portal under Mario. Hes going to live or die by high school recruiting and development. His takes are to raise the floor and depth, not raise the ceiling.
And that’s fine but you cannot keep taking projects both in HS recruiting and portal we don’t got time for this lol

Miami just landed a commitment from Albany QB transfer Reese Poffenbarger. This will raise eyebrows, so let me pass on what I know about the decision:

- Miami will continue to evaluate veteran QBs through the end of this cycle and, if necessary, after spring. Poffenbarger has two years of eligibility, and his addition will not preclude Miami from pursuing another proven arm.

- Poffenbarger led the FCS in passing yards (3,608 yards) and passing TDs (36) while being graded at 2nd in big-time throws by PFF.

- Miami was blown away by his visit this weekend and compared his personality to Baker Mayfield. They also have high grades on his arm strength and athleticism (check his dunking highlights here).

- He measured at 6.05 and 215 pounds on his visit.

- I expect Miami to be aggressive in the Portal over the next two weeks. Positions to watch (along with QB) are safety, WR and possibly RB. This includes players committed elsewhere or about to commit elsewhere. They also will pursue difference-makers in the trenches. The plan is to pay for quality, not quantity. Young players like Rob Stafford and Chris Johnson need snaps. We don’t want to be like FSU where we major in the Portal and minor in HS recruiting.

- With respect to CB Antoine Jackson (ECU/UCF), I'm told Miami passing had nothing to do with his prior decommitment. There were some speed concerns on film. Miami did not have high grades on CB Earl Little and WR Jalen Brown, who went to FSU. There was some interest in Marvin Jones, Jr. but they have others rated higher.
Honestly, I’m sick about hearing Miami being blown away by somebody on a visit. It’s becoming as cliché as “back to work”.

last time I heard that it was about Will Howard.

DMoney had the post ready to go asap because he knew what the general reaction was going to be.

Serious question since information is hard to find on this kid - what other schools were recruiting him? He posted no offers publicly, trying to find some articles or recruiting services that mention him..
All I know is he started at Old dominion and then transfer to Albany and now he transferred to the canes

I'm viewing Reese as a spring arm. Who knows when Emory will be healthy or full go, so adding Reese from a numbers stand point makes sense. But calling him similar to Baker Mayfield is disgusting and I love you D$.

In other news, the lack of aggression in the portal is alarming. I have zero issues with how FSU built their roster even if it's not sustainable. Also, Miami "pursuing difference makers" in the portal sounds great but in reality hasn't happened. I haven't seen us linked to any big names at all. Not every portal add needs to be a slam dunk, you need to fill holes and add depth as well. We are early in the offseason but I don't feel great going into spring ball right now.
