This hire doesn't curl my toes, but I also recognize that it might end up being a really good hire. You never know how guys are gonna perform until they're actually in the weeds hacking away.

The things I like about the hire:
- Love the move to an uptempo O that has the potential to put up a lot of points.
- I actually like that he's from G5. The theory is that he will be hungry like Guidry appears to be. Real hunger and a chip on his shoulder could carry him to success.
- Cribby likes him. Jay seems to be fine with him.
Houston was 86th in pace. They weren’t uptempo.

No, let's not revisit at the end of the season.

The "Mario will never hire an Air Raid guy" bros were adamant that it would never happen. They never said "let's see how/whether Mario modifies it". They just said it would never happen.

It happened.
I was one of them so I was wrong .

We weren’t going to hire someone better than a OC like Dawson. After two ridiculous searches and the season we had, the jokers here really had expectations that we were going to pull some master OC from a big time program. This exceeded my expectations because the fact pattern indicated that Mario’s OC job is not attractive, money be damned. I think he will put up good numbers
Thats all we can ask for, put up the numbers and let the D do their job also.

Dawson took over in 2016. I mean it's not a bad season but seems like Mullens regressed going from Monken in 2015 to Dawson in 2016.

So many variables. Quality of the OL, WR, TE, etc. Did the defense stop anyone or did the opposition dominate the play clock?

How were the defenses on the teams he was at? Houston needed 40 points a game in order to win games. Over the last 10-15 years Miami’s needed just 28 and they would have won something like 80% of their games. If we’re feeling that our Defense will improve that 28 should still continue to hold true.
