Great update D Money!

Sounds like the QB position will be pretty scary if Kaaya gets injured this season and/or leaves after this season. Let's hope that someone figures out how to step up pretty soon.

Is this something new?
Losing a starting QB would be an issue at 99 percent of college football programs.

No it isn't. Only at UM. Everyone else has Joe Montana on the bench.

The 1 v 2 thing is going to be the new cause for the worry warts. Pretty sure Richt has an idea of how to practice.

That seems like a good tool for development. 2's should continue to get better by going against stiffer competition in practice.

One day, we should be at the point where Sean Taylor's and Antrel Rolle's and Willis McGahee's don't really give a crap about being a "2" and kick the starters *** anyway.

Richt doesn't need to learn about the 1's. He knows Brad Kaaya, Njoku, and Coley, and Muhammad and Elder and Norton are good. He needs to know about Rosier, Sherieffs and the like

You do it to build depth and evaluate what you have on the roster in particular your 2 deep beyond your starters to see if they can compete competively against your 1s. That way if a second team linebacker is excelling against your number 1 offense that gives the coach a sense of comfort in saying ok maybe that guy deserves more 1st team reps

Did Willis dominate from DT or DE?

He has been playing exclusively at DT

Its gonna be hard to keep him off the field. I know McIntosh and Norton are ballin' too but ****..everytime there is a report Willis has his name right in the thick of things.

He'll play a ton basically starter minutes. Think of a 6th man in basketball.

Pretty sure our DL will rotate a lot. I remember reading something about Kool wanting 8-10 DL in rotation.

I'm getting more rustled by the minute at the thought of our 1s going against our 2s.

I tried to be bold. But now I'm starting to quiver about this myself. Talk me off the ledge.

Here is the antidote:

I am risen. Thank you for that video nerve tonic.

Between the 1s v 2s and Stew Mandel picking Pitt and Manny Diaz crying about our 2s I was close to throwing out my season tickets and rooting for UNC.

Linebacker not getting into dangerous territory depth wise, they already there. DBs too. Injury bug gonna hit sometime during season.
I think we are ok...Pinkney is not that serious..Owen is ok...preventive maintenace...if I were king of the canes ... I would not get him reinjured before Ga Tech...i would continue to let him recover...from what i hear Gordiner has stepped up taking all his reps qith the ones...Mike Smith is also stepping up...today we are a lot deeper at LB than we are at QB..LBs is going to be a trial but i feel we will be okay...Dan Morgan came in as true fresh MLB and did okay...I think Shaq will get better with each game..

I agree with this. We still got some time before we play a meaningful game. Let guys like Pickney, Owens, Richards heal up and let the guys behind them get reps and improve.

Yeah, not getting the fixation over the 1v2 stuff.
It's been done this way for years by virtually all coaches.
I think some folks on this board are autistic.

Half Tony Montana Half Ronald McDonald...All body bag lyfe............bro

Can anyone explain what is the advantage of 1 vs 2 over 1 v 1 it would seem our first team o line would benefit from going against the first team d line so what's the advantage of going against back ups

1 v 1 rarely happens until bowl practices.

I don't know the reasoning behind it, but it's true for the vast majority of NCAA programs

Don't the 1s practice vs scout teams so that each side of the ball can install and practice their system
