I think the coordinators will have the biggest impact. We know what TVD can do when he's in a good offense. We know the DL is going to eat.
Agreed better play-calling would make a world of difference, but let's not ignore what a stout OL can do. Not only would it open running lanes, but give TVD that time to make plays downfield. That's the one area I'm most excited to see if we truly are that much better than last year. Logic says it should be.

Well, appreciate the optimism & hopefully this is the year . . . but when Gore is highlighted as making plays and potential factor on DL - like, wow.

This feels like the Richt team that started 10-0 but lost in the end when injuries were too much. I think we have the starting talent to beat every team on our schedule but come October if injuries hit us at the wrong positions, like center or quarterback, things could take a turn for the worst.
Would much rather be the '16 iteration that started 4-4 and finished 9-4. Not sure the schedule plays out that way given how backloaded it is.

I think both new Coordinators will have a positive effect and play should be much better. The difference will be the mental toughness and togetherness this team shows. Last year it was sorely lacking. It will probably make a huge difference in contested games like Texas A&M, NC, NCState and seeing that we don't lose games to teams we are more talented than. Probably the difference between 7 wins or a 9-10 win season.

What part of that summary are you seeimg as negative?
D$'s hype vdeo just prior to the start of last season is what's doing it for me....It was ******* great, just didn't age well at all....

I know you’re joking but D mentioned it was a drill we were working on from our end zone. He said TVD hit Young for another huge bomb but Colby dropped it

Dawson was watching that MTSU film…
I have PTSD from that game, man. LOL.

I think this years success will come down to TVDs & the DL play.
I agree with this................let's face the REAL truth..........this season is riding on the back of TVD......healthy, rested, primed, and ready to go...............

We need to hope that he stays healthy because if not...........we do NOT want to consider.......our options or the alternative.
It would mean...who you got time?....and that scares the **** out of me...........being honest......

As far as the D goes.....if we play at a consistent advanced level of D through game 7.......then we would be real......and a 10-2, 9-3 or even an 8-4 year would be a **** of a lot better than 5-7.....

It is a "how you do anything, is how you do everything" year...............where has that gone?...

Eh, it's improvement year two under a real regime.

Had this conversation with another fan over the weekend; that same "we've heard the same thing every year for the past two decades" not-fooling-me-this-time, gonna-have-to-prove-it energy.

As a fellow jaded fan, I absolutely get that.... but I can also acknowledge it was stupid to buy fool's gold with nice-guy Larry, not-ready-for-prime-time Randy, empty-suit Al, over-the-hill Mark or beta Manny—most from an era where liberal Donna ran the show, had a kill-what-you-eat approach to athletics (refusing to invest in any growth) and the program was flooring it in neutral from the moment Butch walked out the door.

Mario is the first alpha male head coach and proven entity this program has employed since the 2000 football season. To have faith in what's going on right now, simply means you believe and buy into the new leadership and way the program is being rebuilt.

I'm not screaming 15-0 year two of the Cristobal era, but with this schedule and with a revamped roster, attitude and energy (as well as improved play at quarterback)—the ceiling should be 10-2 and the basement 8-4—so 9-3 feels realistic.
I agree with everything you said. I realize this is a 3-5 year rebuild just to start getting to the ACC title game but at the same time it doesn’t change the fact that last year just about ripped the care out of me for good.

I fly from TN to Miami for every home game and make most away games, it’s just my passion and a way of life. But I have never been more “oh yea I guess the season does start next week. Ah it doesn’t really matter we’re going to suck anyway” about a season in my entire life.

Mostly for reasons I posted in another thread but it’s difficult getting excited about a season when you see an easier path to 6-6 than 9-4.
