The Miami Hurricanes continue to fortify their future defense as they snagged a coveted commitment from Chaminade-Madonna High School's Zaquan Patterson on Sunday. This commitment comes as a significant addition to the Hurricanes' 2024 recruiting class, which badly needed the addition of an elite safety prospect to the class.
Standing at 6’ and weighing in at 185 pounds, Patterson brings a physical, downhill style as more of a box safety that coaches have raved about. This skill set has propelled him to being ranked the #77 overall player nationwide in the 247Sports composite rankings. Patterson is also ranked as the #3 safety and the #10 player in Florida.
It was a wild recruitment with twists and turns where many thought Auburn held the lead. Other programs such as Florida State, Michigan, and Ohio State in the mix for his services.
Patterson played youth football for the famed Miami Gardens Ravens teams that included fellow Hurricanes commits Chance Robinson, JoJo Trader, Ryan Mack, and Vincent Shavers.
