I want him in bubble wrap all offseason.

Awesome cover skills when healthy. Kudos to Mario and the portal team for being more agre$$ive in the secondary this time around.

One more corner imo, and one more safety…and we’re looking much better in the back end.

Let’s close on Blay too.

Natty back on

He’s coming off injury and will probably miss spring practice

Some teams were reluctant about that

Which imo is fine because it forces us to see what we have without him, what development/progress has been made (if any), and if we have to dip back in the spring portal.

Brantley is a dog when healthy, just need to get him there. No reason to rush him back.

I’m definitely good with taking him. Just need to keep stacking a lot more guys and vets for that matter, Injuries happen during the season

I just can't understand how Miami with all their rich tradition in having great secondary players simply has trouble recruiting/developing good or decent players at CB or safety in last 3-4 years. Our coaching on D side of ball has been simply awful. Not asking for Sean taylor or Ed Reed or antrel rolle, but we should be pretty good in the secondary given our location, etc. Our DB coaches leave a lot to be desired. I can't wait until we get a new D staff after the playoffs.

We don't have trouble recruiting them meaning people who are considering and even wanting to commit. Evaluating IMO is what the issue is...

What did the tweet say? We get a crystalball for him or something?

@1murhurricane already made a solid point, another one is that our history is just that history. Those coaches aren’t here anymore and how we recruit, eval and execute on Saturdays is in the hands of different people. Sure the location has tons of talent but if we can’t prioritize it or evaluate it properly that U on the helmet doesn’t mean ****. Thinking it does is what got us into this problem back in the mid 2000s. Coaching matters.

3-4 years? Try 10-15 years. As a whole, it’s been pretty mid

Brantley would be a real nice addition, but he needs to be placed in bubble wrap. He’s referred to as oft-injured Brantley. In 4 years, he’s never finished a season. First two years shoulder, missed last 9 as junior due to concussion and last 3 this year with lower leg injury. Also, this is 3rd dip in portal - returned 2 previous times.

As first reported yesterday on CanesInSight, there is strong mutual interest between CB Charles Brantley (Michigan State) and Miami. The veteran cornerback confirmed he is visiting Miami on Friday:

The 6', 179-pound Brantley had 27 tackles, 2 TFLs and 3 INTs in 2024. According to PFF, he allowed 14 receptions for 149 yards on 37 targets without allowing a touchdown. He also graded out at a strong 77 percent.

Brantley is a graduate of Venice High School on Florida's West Coast, where he also ran the 100M and competed in the high jump, long jump and triple jump.

For his career, Brantley has 103 tackles, 5 TFLs, 5 INTs and two pick sixes. He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Is he a starter over current roster or nah?
