The point is it's working and in the end it shines a brighter light on Golden for future endeavors...
Should Al get another HC gig I think he understands now that surrounding yourself with better coaching personnel is paramount...
I'd be shocked if he made a D'Ono type mistake again....
Oh I agree, he can’t possibly be that insane right?

If he got another shot I would hope he would do things differently.

“For us, we’re built to be a four-down front and turn our edge players loose and be disruptive.

This is exactly what JT wants out his boss. To let him teach his DE's to play loose and disruptive. Guirdy tried to be cute all the time and it confused these kids. I have a feeling our DL is going to take the next step we've been waiting on.

@L A M P

Since u disagree on Golden, I need to hear u defend him since he’s been an absolutely mid coach every where he’s been. So pls, enlighten me.
I just think there’s always up and comers. Whether or not they pan out isn’t always linked to ability as much as often times, circumstance.

He was highly thought of in the pros. Mid is not the term I’d use to define his time there. I think he’s a smart guy who has sound football acumen.

I understand what you’re saying. It’s plausible. I just think it’s a stretch to say it’s that way for certain.

We won’t really know until his next stint. I’m not advocating saying he’s Joe Pa 2.0. All I’m saying is we’ll see. Could end up with a nice little career. (maybe not)

@PatrickCane summed up my feelings nicely on him above. Meh.

The lack of adaptability was exactly what doomed Al Golden. I think he doesn't get enough credit for the talent identification and acquisition that he recruited/signed for Mark Richt to maximize, but overall Golden was a 'square peg in a round hole' at Miami. Notre Dame is an absolutely better fit for him but I would also counter that there aren't alot of places where he would fit as well as he is fitting there. The lawsuit against Miami was a reprehensible move by him and will probably limit his head coaching opportunities going forward as well. Who wants to hire a guy as a head coach who sued his last head coaching employer? The Penn State disappearing act for 3/4 days was also just as abhorrent.
I thought the school screwed him over? How is suing them reprehensible?

dude Golden was a pretty good talent evaluator and he won some big recruiting battles. the guy was recruiting with a hand tied behind his back.
He has kids he got to miami that are still playing in NFL. I'm not a fan but the guy wasn't the worst when it came to finding players and developing. he was bitter and let his buddy still a paycheck. he also play scared, would get a lead and take his foot off the pedal.
I still maintain if Al had gotten rid of Donuts by the end of the 2nd season, it would have shown growth and he could have made it work here.

Agree. But Golden would always say "players, not plays," which have the same look PR wise.

Guidry was supposedly that way too.

But I won't be a mope. The D has no where to go but up and I'm excited. I love the comment about being an "attacking style" defense. Similar to what CMR said when he hired Manny.
Guidry didn’t recruit and brought in jags. Real bad sign when he came in. Pause, Surprised he had a good season the season before.
