Missouri to hire Miami LB coach Derek Nicholson to same position

Miami LB coach and co-defensive coordinator Derek Nicholson will be taking the LB coach job at Missouri, as reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Nicholson spent two years with the Miami Hurricanes. The defense struggled in his second season, finishing 70th in scoring defense and lagging far behind the nation's top-ranked offense. Nicholson's departure is part of a larger defensive overhaul, as the Canes fired DC Lance Guidry and CB coach Chevis Jackson took the DB coach position at Wake Forest.

Miami recently hired Corey Hetherman from Minnesota as its new defensive coordinator. It bears watching as to whether he will have involvement in the new hires.

I wish D Nic the best of luck and he rebounded pretty good at his next job in the SEC

Going into the offseason there's not one LB I feel good about. Not sure if its the players or the coaching. Full purge seems to be coming to an end. Does JT survive? We'll find out

I have watched a lot of film on HS LBs who turned into good college LBs. I still like all of our current LBers and believe the weakness was coaching & development more than the players. That said, we do not have an LB1, and we need that. Wes got the jersey by default, not by merit.
