Miami is firing DC Lance Guidry

We wanted the guy fired, he gets canned and people still complain. He was decent last year, wheels fell off this year and he was held accountable. I’m not finding an issue here. Miami took a chance on an aggressive guy that had legit success at the G5 level, it didn’t work.

Fitz or Tucker would be legit.
He wasn’t decent last year, only slightly better but the same problems existed. Every time we had momentum on offense or scored the defense just let the others O team O take back momentum the ensuing drive. The 2023 unc, Louisville game comes to mind as well as a host of others

Rarely is it fixed or done quickly but gotta credit Mario that he makes changes when they’re needed.

3rd time is the charm?

Gotta assume he’s gonna hit on one hire on defense at some point
You expecting any holdovers?

There will be no more cut and paste. New DC will be given power to bring in his guys. I think no one is safe ( D Nick probably only one worth saving). JT can recruit, but not the developer or hard worker we probably need. All 3 SMU guys ( Harvey, JHH and Elijah) played better when they left.
D Nick is whatever to me. I think he’s got a ton of upside but finding good LB coaches isn’t difficult.

Give me a complete overhaul. Hire a stud DC that isn’t coming out of retirement (Steele) or still trying to prove he’s capable of being P5 caliber (Guidry). Then give him the keys to bring his guys in with a big payroll available to him.

So what! I don't trust Mario to hire any coordinator! He gave him a extension, so Miami has to waste money on his buy out! Guidry had no business being the Miami DC at 51 now 53! Why? Guidry never was coach on the P5/P4 level. Miami was his 1st P4 coaching job at 51! He never coached in the Pac10, ACC, SEC, B10 or B12! He only coached in group of 5, division 2 and HS! If your a young hot coach in the group of 5 or lower levels, P4 schools come for you in your 30's or 40's, not your 50's!

Rinse and repeat….who will be the next fall guy?
💯. LOL at thinking that this changes anything. This program has bigger issues than coordinator or position coaches whether it be Guidry, Steele, Gattis, Strong, etc. We have tried the "fall guy" route already. Guidry was incompetent but as I said, he is symptom of a larger problem with this program.

3rd better be the charm. And I don’t mean that Mario will be fired if the next hire fails, as we know he won’t. But I mean that for \Mario to have credibility within his own organization he has to prove that he can make the right hire at DC on the 3rd attempt. No one deserves a 4th attempt to get something right which is so critical to an organization.

Big board from Lake:

Tyler Santucci - 6/10
Cory Hetherman - 8/10
Tom Allen - not happening
Andy Avalos - 3/10
Jason Taylor - no
Anthony Campanile - 8/10
Terry Joseph - never been a DC and would be a gamble
Clint Hurtt - 7.5/10
Pat Fitzgerald - either a 5/10 or a 10/10 no idea. Never been a DC
Mel Tucker - not happening
Weak list IMO.

Would like to see Derrick Ansley, Bryan Brown, Clayton White, Brad White, etc.

man if we lose scott
that would be devastating to the DT room
esp since we signed zero impact DTs this year in HS
Someone said they were mentioning at C*nesports site that Lightfoot and Scott were exploring that option. I asked the dude if it was the mods or just random fans mentioning that but he never confirmed. I've def been worried about these 2 since they are out of state, didn't play much and then the scuffle on the sideline. Scott would be a major loss. I think with proper coaching he could be a stud here
