Miami is expected to hire Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

The Miami Hurricanes have their defensive coordinator. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman will be taking the same position with the Canes.

In games against FBS opponents, Minnesota finished 10th nationally in scoring defense (18.3 PPG), 14th in yards per play (4.7) and 19th in yards per pass attempt against (6.3).

Like Mario Cristobal, the 44-year-old Hetherman comes from the Greg Schiano coaching tree, having coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.

Hetherman had tremendous success at the FCS level. In 2021, he was named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year after coordinating James Madison's No. 2-ranked defense in the nation. He also served as Maine's defensive coordinator from 2016-18, leading the FCS in rushing defense, interceptions and fumble recoveries in his final season.

Hetherman is a Massachusetts native who played quarterback at Fichburg State from 2003-06.

Monroe is from Minnesota, it’s probably his dream job. I’m not sure if he would leave. I wonder if we hire a DB coach? I’m guessing Derek Nicholson is gone or moved to OLB coach. I’m not a fan of Chevis Jackson at all, our DBs we’re out of place all year

I saw interviews with the guy talking about how hard it was recruiting at the schools he started out at, who knows. I prefer a recruiter but our problem losing kids this year was guidry and his scheme.

Btw, give this guy Kellen wiley. lol

He's coaching them up really nice. Watched tons of tape. MN kids are really smart and tough.

Minnesota was a tough out this year. His worst game was ironically against Schiano which makes sense right? We all got excited about Guidry against ND but body of work Hetherman routinely had his team clamping much better teams

Learned my lesson by now not to say too much but on paper I agree

Not that it matters but Wisconsin is close to Minnesota and they might not let Hetherman leave

If they bump him up to DC and a raise he stays. If they don’t then the best move for his career would be to follow the DC. Mario knows all about Monroe and has been on his radar before. I’m sure he’ll push to add him.
