Miami is expected to hire Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

The Miami Hurricanes have their defensive coordinator. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman will be taking the same position with the Canes.

In games against FBS opponents, Minnesota finished 10th nationally in scoring defense (18.3 PPG), 14th in yards per play (4.7) and 19th in yards per pass attempt against (6.3).

Like Mario Cristobal, the 44-year-old Hetherman comes from the Greg Schiano coaching tree, having coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.

Hetherman had tremendous success at the FCS level. In 2021, he was named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year after coordinating James Madison's No. 2-ranked defense in the nation. He also served as Maine's defensive coordinator from 2016-18, leading the FCS in rushing defense, interceptions and fumble recoveries in his final season.

Hetherman is a Massachusetts native who played quarterback at Fichburg State from 2003-06.

That's what I got out of it as well. Everything else was your standard, everyday coachspeak. Leave the winter gear up in Minnesota and slather on the SPF 50 on the chrome dome and get to work.

Minnesota fans are saying it's an A+ hire if it happens and they've obviously upset. He just got a big raise from Minnesota too. I don't know much about him but let's get it rolling.

I wonder if DNich stays if this guy is a LB coach as well. If he can’t recruit then we need a few legit recruiters. I also hope if we do bring Monroe that last spot is used on the biggest recruiting name we can get. Preferably one who also recruits DBs
