Ranking may be too low, but a higher ranking will feel better as the Canes rack up wins and show the world that the ranking has been earned. The Canes still have a lot of mistakes to clean up, and a lot of improvement for this team is on the horizon. Plus, we want to see how our coaches and players respond when the other team has game-planned for them and are ready for everything the Canes like to do.

These Canes coaches deserve a lot of credit for the UF game. I also loved seeing so many players get meaningful reps on defense, especially depth guys at every position from DL, to LB to DBs. I haven’t seen depth players getting meaningful snaps in years, and that will pay off as the season rolls along. I just wished that Cam could have been pulled a little earlier in the fourth quarter, but I won’s nitpick.

I believe we'll get to at least #3 in the AP/Coaches polls before it's all said and done. The nice thing is - we don't have to worry about the press and petty rival coaches keeping us out ala 2000. If we don't take on more than one loss, we'll be in the playoffs.

And, unless we have multiple key injuries, I now believe that we'll be undefeated in the regular season based on seeing the team and and more importantly, Cam, play.
We just don’t need Coach Mario to play Cam into the Fourth against a Nun’s School and get a stupid injury when we’re ahead by 35. We need to remember how stupid Norvell was last year and why the networks punished FSU for being so stupid as to get Travis injured against a DIII school in a late season game.

They will NEVER forgive UM if Mario lets a First Rounder like Ward get injured.

Miami football opened its 2024 season with a dominant 41-17 win over Florida. The Canes looked elite in every phase of the game for all four quarters against an SEC opponent.

After their victory against Florida, the Canes climbed twelve spots to No. 11 in the FPI rankings. The previous week Miami was ranked No. 23.

9/10 are B1G or $EC.
Probably more right than k want to admit, but it’s under my skin.

Nice to see Oregon penalized for their clunker, but how is a 2-loss FSU still ranked?

To be clear, FPI is simply a computer number. With one game sample and priors included.

I'm assuming it's Expected Points Added fueled, with Bayesian methodology, which a mathematical principle that starts with a base assumption (last year's data) and then adjusts itself based on new data up or down to give you a probability metric of an output (such as strength of team).

This isn't a poll where ESPN subjectively ranks teams.
