Miami adds Lou Cristobal to roster

Veteran Georgia State interior lineman Lou Cristobal has pledged his commitment to Miami, a move that is significant both on and off the field.

A rotational lineman at Georgia State, Cristobal is expected to provide depth for the Canes at a critical position, a need that became all too apparent during the spring game. With probable starters Javion Cohen and Anez Cooper missing in action with injury, the interior offensive line was noticeably under pressure. Adding a lineman with Cristobal's experience could add necessary stability and resilience to this essential unit.

At 6 feet and weighing in at 274 pounds, Cristobal played over 350 snaps last season for GSU. Born into a family with a proud legacy at Miami, Lou Cristobal is the son of Luis Cristobal, a former offensive lineman for the Canes. Notably, he is also the nephew of Miami's head coach Mario Cristobal. Cristobal is originally class of 2019 out of Columbus HS.

However, this is not just a sentimental choice for the Canes. Cristobal is bringing a solid two years of eligibility to Miami, and the hope is that he will use this time to deliver on the field and help rebuild an offensive line that faced some challenges in the spring game.

While the addition of Cristobal doesn't resolve all the offensive line issues facing the Hurricanes, it is an important step in the right direction.

I agree that is was bogus, kid should be signed and enrolled with us as we speak. But the reasoning I spoke about is why he’s not on our team…at least the kid gets to play for his likely dream school growing up, which I’m sure is going to be absolutely thrilling for him.

Because he’s taking a scholarship for 2 years. So yeah if he was a grad transfer, sure.

And you don't know if he's on Scholarship, PWO, Academic Scholarship, Florida Pre-Paid, 529 Plan, Mario or Luis paying...You have no idea so instead of insinuating not being on the team if it wasn't his last name - I beg to differ - it's can't hurt us having a good kid to have on Scout Team or whatever to help when you need bodies and bodies who will show up every day with something to prove. You think he's coming here and will take plays off? Yeah right.

He’s a PWO. If there’s one spot on All-Conference teams that are littered with former walk-ons it is C.

Let the kid compete, have some shine without the board crapping on him, and see where it goes.

It's all good. Just trying to establish that there are MANY ways for Lou to pay for a graduate degree at Miami.

People are overreacting, and it's sad for them AND Lou. He should be able to be happy coming home, without having some over-reactors acting like this is a crime against humanity.
