Malachi Toney recommits to Miami

Blue-chip WR Malachi Toney has recommitted to the University of Miami.

The 5'10.5, 182-pound WR had opened his recruitment after reclassifying into the Class of 2025 and visiting Alabama. The American Heritage product is having a sensational final season, grabbing 54 receptions for 964 yards and 12 TDs through nine games.

He made an impact both ways in last week's win over St. Thomas Aquinas, scoring a long TD and snatching the game-sealing interception.

Toney is the 22nd commitment in the Class of 2025, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, WR Josh Moore, WR Daylyn Upshaw, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG TK Muex, OG Max Buchanan, OC SJ Alofaituli, DE Herbert Scroggins, DT Donta Simpson, DT Mykah Newton, LB Gavin Nix, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, S Hylton Stubbs, DB Amari Wallace, DB Bryce Fitzgerald, DB Tim Merritt and CB Chris Ewald.

I swear no fanbase disrespects our greats like ours

X is literally one of our greatest players ever, stop saying someone is his replacement. Idc if its a slot wr, idc if they’re a short wr, idc if they’re Hispanic just stop

This x1000.

We’re replacing 1,127 yards and 11 TDs. No one from this current roster is walking into the slot role and producing that stat line next year. And that’s ok, because X was absurd. This guy could end up being a day 2 draft pick…does he look Iike your prototypical NFL WR? He is an absolute technician, insanely reliable with his hands, and a smart football player. Good run blocker for his size too, which scouts will love. We’re going to miss him more than people think.

I think Toney will eventually be a nice player on this level. But yeah, stop labeling him the next X. It’s not fair to him a nd he isn’t playing over Horton/Trader/Carr bare minimum anyway, if they are still here next year. Not to mention portal additions.

Toney trended down because he reclassified. Rankings always project improvement.

He trended whatever be cause he reclasified and any times that happens they dont know how to slot those guys.

Kid has been ascending weekly down here he has single handidly made a mockery of some div 1 laden defenses thew last few weeks...so i could care less what cooper petanga or whomever does the rankings thinks lol

Buddy beat Norland in the playoffs AT QB!!! That's all I needed. I was about to blow a gasket if he didn't sign here after whipping my Vikings man.

CIS being CIS / overrating X early, then getting ****ed when people challenged that, instead of appreciating X being great - mocked people for being reasonable when others overrated him, and now act like he can be replaced instantly by multiple guys that played a total of 12 plays between them.

Love this pickup, watched him play against Milton earlier this year and you could just tell he was different. We need to continually land difference makers and this kid is one of them. Now we could use about 8 of those on defense and we'll be fine.
