LB Gavin Nix commits to Miami

The Canes continued their hot streak with the commitment of prized LB Gavin Nix. The 6’, 225-pound Nix is a consensus four-star prospect anf the leader on a loaded IMG defense. He is the 7th player Mario Cristobal has signed from the football factory, joining TE Riley Williams, TE Jaleel Skinner, OT Francis Mauigoa, OG Antonio Tripp, DE Jayden Wayne and EDGE Malik Bryant.

Nix, who some have compared to Jonathan Vilma because of his speed and cerebral nature, chose Miami over FSU and Oregon.

Nix is the 15th commitment in the 2025 class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OT Jaden Wilkerson, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG TK Muex, OG Max Buchanan, DE Herbert Scroggins, LB Elijah Melendez, LB Ezekiel Marcelin, DB Amari Wallace, DB Tim Merritt and CB Chris Ewald.

yeah. let UF have Stubbs, listening to that kid talk for 30 seconds and thinking you want him calling your defense in the secondary is hilarious.

This kid is a good character kid. I wish him the best. it's on Mario for hiring a dope cajun goofball to be his DC.

I'll be a fan of Nix at Oregon. Can't say the same about Stubbs at UF.

Took an L here for sure.
I really liked the kid

Also it's kinda funny reading a lot post from folks that were literally calling this kid mid a few week ago now singing a different tune.

The silence here on CIS is deafening. Since I haven’t seen a Bank or any lofty statements from the Kool-Aid in Chief, and it’s less than 12 hours from ESD, and I’ve seen flips and Loy and Fong flips from UM to other programs, is it safe to assume that we are going to take a lot of L’s tomorrow and maybe finish with a class ranked in the composite around 15?

It seems we will be looking forward to the Portal. My question to you or anyone is do we have a reason to look forward to the portal? Pointedly, will we also be out spent in the portal?

I’m sure the defensive performance is hurting us, and I see you pointing at Guidry, which I don’t doubt, but I also believe that there’s a money component to this more than anything. Unfortunately, I haven’t had conversations with people in the money end lately so I can only piece things together.
