Recency bias. At no point did No’D field an even remotely competent defense here. Guidry was pretty good last year. Seems like his ego got in the way this year.

He def has an ego issue. You see it in pressers. Dawson is always saying what they can do better. Guidry goes back and forth with reporters in a ****ing match. You need someone who wants to win not a guy who wants to be right.
Guidry was not pretty good last year, I called it out too and saw through the facade. Same problems it just go revealed even more so this year

No it was the same problems. How many times did the offense score and then his defense would just give back momentum the drive after? Louisville , North Carolina game come to mind and a host of others. The bowl game vs Rutgers

Yeah this is going to come down to Mario closing. He may have to put a birdie in these defensive recruits ear that he’s bringing in a proven name.

He got early props for swapping to a 3-3-5 due to personal issues but that all went out the window in the 2nd half of the season when he was getting huge numbers dumped on him like the UNC and Loserville games. I knew then he needed to address said issues or OCs would just reuse those same game plans again… shocker he didn’t make any adjustments and they’ve been smoking him
Defense was awesome against Clemson and had a few other solid games. Feels like Louisville wrote the book on how to attack Guidry's D last year and they never adjusted.

Honestly it was only a matter of time until the dog**** coaching from Guidry started impacting recruiting

Agree. I think the only option is getting rid of him now… the negative recruiting against him has to be the main thing. The uncertainty of who’s next will suck but shows we are moving to find someone better. Keeping him shows we don’t mind mediocrity and you might be learning another new defense in year two guaranteed.
I’m order for his defense to work he has to have guys who can play in the secondary. He runs a 5 DB formation. It’s not that difficult to figure out and by no means am I crapping on you. But it’s like running sabans defense without edge rushers. And Guidrys defense, wait for it, is a scheme we’re tackling in space is key. We don’t do that. He needs players. The one area I’m concerned is the lack of communication. With the players. That’s a problem from a coaching point of view
problem with that is my understanding is he isn't a guy who recruits hard.
