I think Mario learned that approach from Saban, who never really "fired" his assistants. They just were quietly "replaced" or "left" for other jobs. Kirby kinda moves the same.

I guess it's a respect thing on their part. Whether it's deserved or not, that's a whole other question.
but saban told lane to kick rocks in season.

To be fair Lane had already accepted the fau job before Saban told him to kick rocks.
Sarkisian, who won the Broyles Award as the top assistant in the FBS, said he "made a commitment" to Alabama coach Nick Saban and would remain with the No. 1 Crimson Tide through the College Football Playoff National Championship Presented by AT&T against No. 3 Ohio State on Jan. 11 (8 p.m. ET, ESPN/ESPN App).

didn't matter that Sark did the same.

No bueno
Can’t go into Notre Dame with Moten, Scott, and Horton as our top 3
To their credit, the team added a lot of needs last spring. Think it will be a bit better off this time around winter portal wise

I remember the Lane Bama situation vividly.
Lane got the fau Job and stayed at Bama to coach the game. During that time Saban didn't like how Lane was handling it and told him to kick rocks.

Waaaay different situation. Lame was begging to get fired so he could focus on rebooting his career at FAU..

It wasn't for lack of performance. They were going to the NC when he got canned. He was being hella disrespectful.
