Sooooo

Lingard played every game with Richt until he got injured. But yet, two years later he gets zero burn because he needs pass pro?

Who dafuq he thinks is accountable for teaching him how to pass block? These coaches man. Play the gddmn kid and give him some valuable he reps. What Lo brings to the stable, can't be worse than what Zion brings to the trenches

My mind is telling me no, but my body is telling me yes ....to another three years of this bullsht.

How would we know? We haven’t seen him play. This is like Storm Johnson in 2010 never getting a chance. Sorry if I don’t trust the evals of our staff after watching their other personnel choices. Let the kid get some carries

all of these kids not ready to play early. Then they get out there too early and then half the fanbase calling them a bust. Its still early in his career. Yall think behind this line he is the difference between us winning and losing?

That’s inaccurate. Go back and look at last year. Lingard barely played when he was healthy. And it’s not two years but one. Lingard got hurt October 2018. Most of his time since has been spent recovering...

If Diaz is preventing Lingard from playing because he needs to work on things like pass protect we should be playing with 6 players at all times.
IIRC Don Solindger made similar comments in the early 2000s. Didn't matter how good you were at running, if you couldn't pick up the blitz, you didn't play.

Eyerolling this whole thread. Lingard not getting snaps is the last of the problems or worries on offense...
Hopefully noone thinks we are 2-2 because of LO. We are 2-2 because of the stupid *** mentality like LO needing to pass block to play and Knowles starts because he tackles. Obviously if kids have weaknesses play to their strengths. Like if Zion cant pass block dont run play action under center. He wont be the savior because 60% of our runs the Dline is hitting player in backfield. But losing elite talent over stupidity is inexcusable.

If your starting LT can't pass block, you are screwed no matter what you try to do.

Manny sees “what Lingard can do” in practice every day, eg. pass blocking etc., you don’t. If Manny doesnt put him in against the 1s, then there’s a reason.
There is no game contact in practice. Not going to learn anything until he plays. Lingard is not going to voluntarily redshirt as the staff may want him to. His family has made it pretty clear that he will look to transfer if asked to sit.

It's comments like these that reveal just sheer ignorance. How is lingard our "best player"? Because he was a 5 star recruit? The dude has barely seen the field at the college level (due to no fault of his own) and yet all of a sudden he is the best player on our team?!? Gtfo with that nonsense. Nobody knows how good Lo will be, especially coming off a major knee injury. This is real life football, not playstation. I, like everyone I'm sure, think he has tremendous potential and hope he WILL BE a star. But as it stands now, not only is Lo not our "best player", he isnt even our best running back, or even arguably our second best running back. Jesus christ with the agendas, man.

And you're honestly sitting here saying it's a non-issue if an RB isnt good at blocking? Especially on a team that's allowed the opposing D to get pressure on our QB almost 50% of every drop back? What?!?

Some of you guys have absolutely lost all connection with reality and common sense.
Lingard was ahead of the others on the depth chart when he was healthy. That's how we know. When Lorenzo played (for us), you could tell he was a total home run threat. We've been missing that elite speed at RB. We had 2 ypc against CMU for goodness sake! The RB coach should be able to get him up to speed on at least 8-10 plays in less than an hour. Not that the other RBs have blocked well at all but yes he needs to block effectively. Hugely important for the Diaz era to play Lorenzo!

We almost lost to a freaking directional school with the current RBs. We had 2 ypc against a no-name directional school (with the current RBs).

Let's all wake up before it's too late and have a sub-.500 record at the end of the season. We need more pop at the RB position & we need our best playmakers playing more on DL. It's like we're rolling out the Pinto to race the Cannonball Run when we have Ferraris in the garage. Ridiculous.

FUG
UM is tied for last in the FBS in terms of converting third downs, with only a 23.3% success rate.

I cringe on what Bud Foster is going to throw at Zion. He’s going to be targeted all game. I hope to see a TE or RB helping him.

Kid has bust his *** for this program since his senior year. If these corches are going to disrespect his talent, I can’t be mad at him if he left. Plenty of other programs that would find a way to get him on the field, and there would be threads every week on how he’s killing it
