Miami's pass rush was already good, and it's about to be illegal. One of the best pass rushers in the nation, Tyler Baron, announced he is transferring to Miami.
The 6'5, 260 EDGE spent the past four years at Tennessee, where he played 47 games, made 23 SEC starts and compiled 105 pressures (third nationally among P5 players). He has 13.5 career sacks and 101 career tackles to go along with 27 TFLs.
According to sources, Baron carries a 3rd-4th round draft grade but expects to climb higher as a full-time EDGE (he played all over the front at Tennessee, including right over the tackle). He is a true speed-to-power pass rusher with prototypical size, stoutness against the run and very good bend for a big man.
He joins Rueben Bain, Akheem Mesidor and Elijah Alston to form the best pass rush group in the ACC. All four have experience playing inside, which gives Guidry a multitude of options to cut loose on quarterbacks and hunt. Miami's offense projects to be elite this year, and pass rush will be at a premium if we're playing with a lead. Baron takes that group to a whole new level.
