guidry is deservingly taking a fall - but maybe too much of one to cover up some of the spectacularly bad play from harris, hill, Richard, porter, etc
I’ve felt hes getting way more **** than he deserves.
You can’t bring in your own staff and we know Mario is basically the one picking the players.
For what ever reason Mario thought what was in the DB room was enough to compete this past season.
He was ask to make something outta of 2 of the worse safeties we’ve ever had here, with CBs that werent that good either
You sure Mario was the one who picked Dyoni Hill? You one honestly think Guidry played no part in bringing in a trash corner that literally played for him at an another school?
So his solution was to keep running out the same game plan every week and get smoked ? No adjustments ? What about the constant stunting? The players just decided to do that in their own? Continuing to play match zone when your players can’t even comprehend a motion ? How about simplifying the scheme? or instead of blitzing a safety from 20+ yds away let him help out your cbs who are getting cooked on islands w no safety help. The players weren’t all that good but he was even worse in my opinion.

does that mean bad angles vs UF (their long td), missed tackle on kickoff return TDs (GT), and a million other bonehead plays just don't matter?
do you think Mario would be sending every DB not named Patterson,markeith, brown, or OJ to the portal if it was ONLY the scheme?
Ok, the one staff member he was able to hire brought his best CB with him.. because Mario did a horrible job brining in talent to the room that year.
Of course Guidry deserves to get fired.. his defense was the reason our season ended the way it did.. but your blind if you can’t see the bs he was handed and asked to make something of as well.

I guarantee you any DC worth his salt would’ve fielded a better defense then Guidry did this year with those same exact players, it wouldn’t have a been a good or great defense given the talent in the secondary, but there’s enough talent not to be ALL TIME atrocious against that schedule. I’ve seen better coached high school teams(no cap) than what I saw on defense from Miami this year . All Guidry proved to me was that at the P4 level his scheme is dog water unless he has NFL talent throughout his defense and even then it wasn’t great, look at what Louisville did to us last year and we had two NFL guys back there

You can talk about scheme all you want, but the coaching style and lack of being able to teach or reach the players is just as concerning. Clearly, it was a very bad job with all position groups, both players and staff.

but I'm also saying some of the players were bad - namely haris. you see how that could be possible right, that both player and scheme need to be fixed?
why would we not fix both? we fired the DC AND sent some players to the portal who underperformed

Jaden is a good athlete who needs to go somewhere where they will develop him as a corner or teach him how to play safety. At least to me he seemed like he gave a ****, he just didn’t know what he was doing. Gotta figure some of these coaches at playoff schools feel the same? Lots of tools to work with we just didn’t do it. Probably still a longshot to become a contributor there but worth the flyer.
Seems like P4 coaches overrating how much of dumbass Guidry was and underrating the sucktitude of some of our defensive players in the portal. (Oops didn't read @407cane posts on same subject)

All things considered, I do wish the best for Guidry and I’m sure he’ll land on his feet

Not remotely true -many kids don’t even find a home, and a bunch of others have to downgrade and it’s not because they’re (all) getting paid more to go to the Mac conference from a P4
Hey we laughed Blake Baker out the door and that turned out okay for him.
My fault this muhfukin defense be having me tweaking seeing red thinkin about how they wasted our season, yea we basically saying the same thing. I just don’t agree with posters who say Guidry sucked because he didn’t have players
