CB Ewald
CB Fitzgerald
Nickel/CB Merritt
Nickel Wallace

We desperately need another Safety.
Then why is (almost) everyone labeling Fitzgerald a Safety? I've also seen Wallace, Merritt, and Ewald occasionally listed as Safeties in a few places (though admittedly more CB).

And who is the best pure cover CB (after Antoine)?
FWIW I think having a CB that can legitimately lock down a top WR is gigantic. IMO it's the most important thing for a defense slightly behind beastly DTs and DEs.

To your first question I have no idea. These things always get confused by people who don't pay attention to the details.

People are labeling Fitz a Safety because that's what he played mostly in high school. Our staff has lots of options in terms of where to put him because he is such a versatile athlete. Myself and many on this fine board will tend to label Fitz a CB because that's where he best projects at this level given his athletic gifts and his supposed aversion to tackling. If he can develop his tackling skills then he could be a great FS because of his ability as a ballhawking centerfielder. Fitzgerald could also play WR at this level and definitely KR/PR.

Ewald is a CB all day. Sites constantly label positions incorrectly.

Wallace can play anywhere but that's up to the staff if/when he recovers. Assuming he recovers 100% then Nickel is where I like him the best.

Merritt can also play anywhere but where he ends up is up to the coaches.

The main reason you see kids listed at different positions is because the position they played in high school isn't necessarily where they will play in college. A kid may be a Safety in high school but the staff could be recruiting him at CB and so on.

Yes, I'm aware that they do. Which is why I'm looking for an opinion from someone who has seen them play (at least the S. Florida guys).

Did anyone record the ceremony?
I wasn't able to watch it live smh

Really glad we ended up with this kid! I really wish we'd get Trey Mcnutt!! Gwt that Safety room right. Especially is we miss out on Pickettt or Hanks. I think if we have a good season tho we'll get 1 or both of those guys! Glad we getting the secondary right! OJ AND Mack looking like really good evals too! That's huge!

DB room starting to look silly.

Give it 2 more years when the 2024 class is in year 3 and these kids are in year 2. Unfortunately, I think we'll need some portalers for 2025.
