DB Amari Wallace commits to Miami

For the fourth straight year, the Canes have landed a defensive star from Miami Central with the commitment of blue-chip S/Nickel Amari Wallace.

The 5’11, 175-pound Wallace lines up all over the defensive backfield for the Rockets and has blocked multiple kicks on special teams. He is a four-year starter and team captain for one of the top programs on the nation. He also played 7on7 for Coach Duasso and RAW Miami. Wallace has frequently been compared to Kam Kinchens, another alum of Coach Duasso’s program.

Wallace is the 10th commit for the Hurricanes in the 2025 class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OL Jaden Wilkerson, OL Demetrius Campbell, OL TK Muex, LB Elijah Melendez and CB Tim Merritt.

This isn’t just a simple 4 star pick up.
This is a player that big time programs were after. Very high on a lot of team’s boards.

Like someone said, credit to them.....this would be 4 years in a row we take Central's best defensive player. Thats since Cristobal's salvage class with Wesley.

Side note, my CDL training route goes by Central, got my road test next thursday then im done. Last hurdle!

Versatile DB that can play Nickel Slot or FS.

- Good instincts
- Ball skills
- Good speed at Safety
- Very quick feet
- Read his keys wells
- Plays the Deep third shell at an advanced level
- Very good recognition reading the QB's eyes
- Fluid transitional mover flipping his hips when tracking the ball
- High Football IQ; smart player, not just an athlete

The only real knock on him is size. He's very very thin. His height isn't really a big deal because Safeties don't necessarily need to be tall. Ideally you'd prefer them to be, but it's not a prerequisite. But overall very solid pick up for the Safety room.

4 years as a starter and team captain. With Powell headed to the NFL, I hope he's ready to contribute extensively next season. Depending on who enters the portal, we may need him.

I don't think he'll be called upon to play as a TF. He'll likely need a redshirt year of Strength/Weight gain development.

I would imagine they hit the Portal pretty heavy for Safeties in the Winter & Spring.

I hope not for this seasons sake they're rolling with Jaden Harris/Markeith/Zaquan so in a year from now unless their trust/gamble failed those 3 should be back and with a year of playing time under their belt. And if Jaden Harris or Markeith didnt pan out well then that doesn't bode well for this season...
