I like the Michael Jackson comparison, he does look the part and if he can play all 5 spots in the secondary? That’s serious versatility.

Tape is good! Can definitely see the football IQ pop up on the film. He looks more like a safety to me than boundary corner but will have to see his senior tape. I like the take but will holding on tight if SEC country comes calling.

How is his fluidity? We badly need corners with sticky man coverage that can flip their hips and run.

Miami landed one of the fastest risers in the South with the commitment of DB Tim Merritt (Birmingham, AL). The 6’1, 185 pounder, who also has a basketball background, chose Miami over Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee.

As first reported a month ago in The Bank, Merritt was identified as a major priority for the Canes. The staff values his IQ, length and twitchiness, which gives allows him to be a versatile piece in the backend. Merritt played safety as a junior and will play CB as a senior. Miami likes him at both but he will start as a CB.

Merritt is the 7th commitment in Miami’s class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TEs Brock Schott and Luka Gilbert, OG TK Muex and LB Elijah Melendez.

He doesn't have any relatives currently pending parole review in the Alabama corrective custody system does he?
