I'm proud of the kids we got. I don't see any Jeremiah Smith's this cycle where I'll never get over missing out on.

It is imperative we :

1. Identify our portal QB EARLY.

2. Get a DC in place before February. Call me insane, but I'd call Banda and see if he'd be interested on a return to College.

30-thousand-foot view: If we finish 15th in recruiting this year, we'll still have an average of 8.6 for the past 3 years. Sprinkle in some portal players and we are set up nicely. The best class in program history will be in their second season. O-line and D-line will be our strengths with a solid run game. The sky is not falling

top oc in cfb ... you must don't watch alot of college football
Yes, his offense was #1 in yards per play. Point per game and total yards. He was the best OC in CFB this year. Should win the Broyles

Yes sir. But it'll need to move from an above average class outside of QB last year to us being at that top spot like Colorado or Ole Miss were to actually cover for how bad (in context) this high school class is.
Yea but the hyperbole is a little much. It's not a bad class by any stretch.

"It's literally the only positive spin. I'm guessing portal kids care a lot less about "SEC" as more impressionable 17-18 year olds would and it'll be more about opportunity and getting to the league."

SUCH a great point here. You have to remember, ESPN goes raw for the SEC. That's all you see. We get Billy Packer's son on the ACC Network. Kids get enamored with that. I get it. It's ok. I did it in marriage. First wife was the SEC and the 2nd wife was business.
Haha very understandable on the wife front.

And no different than getting Ward, Baron, Barrow and Martinez I think Mario still has a lot to sell to portal impact guys in terms of play time, money and the impact they'll make playing good ball while wearing a U on their helmet.

Game has changed and it's tilted against us in high school recruiting but it doesn't mean there isn't an adjustment strategy to win enough on the High School front but really win in the portal.

I am usually a pretty levelheaded guy. But this finish was absolutely terrible. Our main struggles were in the secondary. And we had two very talented. Defensive backs flip away from us. And our two top targets in South Florida were defensive backs and they signed elsewhere. It was a horrific finish.

Not to mention, the guys we got are heavily flawed. Antoine has a torn ACl. Fitzgerald doesn’t like to tackle. Ewald is overrated. Wallace is a small gym rat with a broken leg.

Db is set back another 2-3 years and will reset every year this goes on

Expect them to be active in the portal again. You might laugh but if they can get their collective together Cignetti will have them yearly top 20 team at worst
0.0% chance that happens. Indiana is and will always be a basketball school. See UNC.
Throw in the B1G bluebloods and there's no way. Could I see them being a top 20 team here and there? Sure. Again, see UNC. Yearly Top 20 at worst? No way.

Don't take this personally.

The mopes gotta be devastated right now.
There’s plenty for people to pick at if they want to. We’re at 14 or 15.

In defense of Mario, if he doesn’t have top NIL dollars, he can only do so much in today’s day but that also makes him an awful choice as HC for us if that’s the case because he’s not going to overcome talent deficiencies with talent identification, development and coaching prowess.

I’m hoping we kill it in the portal but the same teams paying more to HS kids today can and will do the same in the portal.
