I will be streaming with Lance Roffers (aka HurricaneVision) bringing you a special Saturday morning edition of CanesInSight Live at 10AM tomorrow.
Cool, feel better? And I agree about Lance.
Still curious why you feel ALL fans/posters on a message board need to list their resume. Do you think EVERYONE here has to have a certain level of experience, which at times doesn't equate to anything intelligent when it comes to posting or analyzing, in order to post on this message board?
Many thanks for this. Glad you didn’t take offense at my query. it’s always refreshing to see maturity on this site.Pretty humbling to have people say nice things and respect my work. Thanks for that.
I played DB at a bad FCS school. It was pretty apparent I was going to go pro in something other than sports.
Fun fact; our OC was Dan Enos. He ran a play-action heavy, I-formation offense. Had a transfer QB from Indiana who held passing records for his one season for years. He left after a year and so did Enos.
Learned to grade film. Learned why coaches do and say the things they do. One of the biggest benefits from that time was really learning to read between the lines on what they’re actually saying. Most coaches I’ve been around in any sport have the same tenets. You have to be trust worthy to play. And the better you are, the more you get away with.
My group’s strength coach was a student, who literally went on to write books on the topic, get his PhD, and the reason I bring him up is he worked for Miami until this year when he took a job at Texas A&M (Brian Mann). He was my roommate after I stopped playing and I learned a lot from him.
One of my undergrad degrees was Sports Management and I was around all sports and learned a lot for each. Decided to go the Finance route and got into math and analytics. When I got a grad degree from the same school I did analytics work and got more experience. I was offered a GA role with the football program at Georgia State, but decided to go another route than coaching.
Then went to school for Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech and am now a Data Scientist for a giant corporation.
Met and started working with Roman at Canes Warning and he is who suggested I start writing and reviewing film for this site.
I do it for fun. Been doing this for years, but also am by no means an expert. I learn and see new things almost daily. It’s fun to be a constant learner and turn your hobby into a source of that learning. When I would code, all my projects revolved around understanding sports at a deeper level.
To be fair to Peter, I’ve done a lot of the pods etc. and I’m pretty low key on my background because I fully understand I’m a nobody and you can take my perspective or you can leave it. I could see something on film and take it completely wrong because I don’t know how they’re coached to handle all situations or the play call.
Hope that answers some questions to the best I can.
I can get down with that.Absolutely not.
People are entitled to their opinions regardless of their experience or background.
But the conviction that many often display, despite their ignorance, gets tiresome.
