Great that you’re doing this but could you list Lance’s background —player, high school coach, college coach, position coach or coordinator experience? It’s always good to know the resume of someone who is trying to explain the game to you.
Thanks!

Lance is knowledgeable.

But you make a good point: ALL posters should list their football background. It would definitely be helpful around here. Help to separate the rice from the rat sh*t

Totally sound logic to focus on Lance's background instead of the substance of his analysis.

Good stuff, CIS.

Thanks for the actual analysis, Lance.
Don’t get your thinking. What are you afraid of? What’s wrong with transparency?

So... your background is...? Kind of think you should have added that immediately due to your porst.

Afraid? I'm afraid you're relying on an appeal to authority as opposed to addressing the validity of his conclusions. Are you afraid to go a little deeper than the most superficial level of perceived legitimacy?

Calm down. Take a deep breath. I enjoy Lance’s takes.
All I’m wondering is why we can’t a get little more info on what makes an expert an expert.
I like your takes too. I look for them. I think you once mentioned that you played safety in the past. So at least I know you have practical experience.
Roman, I believe, once said he played QB in a past life.
Not a big deal but I’d appreciate it if this site would give me a little more info on our resident gurus, like SteveO or for that matter, my fave, @DMoney.

im calm. I’ve directly responded to your questions and requests. I don’t think it’s difficult to see I’m supporting someone who comes to our community to give quality opinions. You may have pure intentions, but it’s also not unreasonable to infer that your question distracts from the *substance* of the opinion.

In 30+ years of playing (at a **** level), coaching some (at youth and otherwise **** levels), and mostly watching/learning football, I can assure you *I’m* definitely not an expert at anything football, but many of the guys who did play at higher levels or even coached can barely put 2 and 2 together. Even translating their own experiences often amounts to an illogical mess. So, my recommendation *to all* is to just analyze the substance of the opinion.

Lance may have been Dan Marino’s backup for all I know, or he may have learned football from video games, but his analysis is predominantly solid and his reasoning sound. Everyone can and should debate, which is why this community thrives.

Ok:

Second team all conference QB - high school
College QB
Assistant coach - QB’s - college (2 years)
Quality Control Analyst - offense - NFL (1 year)

I both played for and coached under, Coach Cozza at Yale.

And I repeat what i said above: @Lance Roffers is both knowledgeable and interesting

Cool, feel better? And I agree about Lance.

Still curious why you feel ALL fans/posters on a message board need to list their resume. Do you think EVERYONE here has to have a certain level of experience, which at times doesn't equate to anything intelligent when it comes to posting or analyzing, in order to post on this message board?
