I don't think they understand we run duo majority of time and he is just letting the double teams develop into the lap of the linebacker and read off of that..

Wish we had more variety in run game tho, they showed a couple things against UF so probably worked in as year goes along but last year we were also majority duo team..
Does duo call for you to run strictly through A gap on every rushing attempt? I'm half joking but I agree with you about wanting more variety in the running game. Counters, traps, quick openers and maybe some off tackle stuff would be nice. I don't pretend to have an up to date working knowledge of the terminology and intricacies of the modern running game but I would like to see more however as the rushing attack as a whole has seemed to be very limited and vanilla for not just the 1st 2 games this year but all of last year as well.

I know both Ward and Dawson have mentioned that we haven't had to dip into the playbook that much at all so far and that's fine with me but I would like to see us show more as the season goes on. I realize they weren't referring to the running game exclusively but I would expect to see many more wrinkles/variations to both facets of the offense, run and pass. One last point that I think is crucial is the fact that to this point we have been an offense that is pass first using the running game as a change up off of that. In other words we have established the pass to set up the run instead of the other way around. This is clearly influenced by the level of trust the staff has in Cam Ward but I think we have to give credit where credit is due. Many of us had questions about whether Mario would let this offense play to it's strengths if those were pass first and thus far he has answered those questions with a resounding yes! We will see how it looks once we begin conference play but I see no reason that we would change that philosophy mid season.

Its an inside power type run but the rb is reading off the linebacker, so the lineman double at point of attack and you hope to get vertical push into the LB lap (LB HATE dlineman being pushed in their lap) makes it hard for LB to read the rb.. Once the LB commits to a hole the RB would essentially bounce to next hole and be on his way.. Thats what Martinez is doing that most fans dont realize, he is letting the blocks get set then essentially going where they are not.

I am guessing Mario loves duo as its a power run without having to pull anyone and it mixes well with Dawson because you can run your rpo stuff with ease which we are doing with Cam to great success, which puts defenses in conflict which I am a big fan of.. Giving the QB multiple options to alway be right and defense wrong, felt like we havent done that in past but have seen it more now. I am interested to see if we have an answer for better defenses answers as last year we did not when they tried to force us to play left handed.

Also I am not best at explaining this stuff but while looking for something that could explain I saw CIS already had a series post, so I will plug here.

Damien only getting 3 carries for 3 yards yesterday is still very odd to me. I know we aired it out but the final line was still shocking
