FCS is like high school level players. This kid completed 58% of his passes. Yikes
FCS guys like Cam Ward and Jared Verse?

This kid isn’t just some average FCS guy, he’s dominated that level and had almost 80 TDs the last two years.

Not to mention a lot of context goes into completion percentage especially if he plays at FCS level. Just using completion percentage is like using your BMI to determine if youre healthy or not.

is this a temper tantrum over the fcs qb?

what if we land taulia, is it going to be like eating a snickers and you'll be back to normal?
Mildly satisfied, I won't call him Corchobal anymore until we lose to Duke next year.

Yeah those 2 played like 5 star recruits at FCS level. Reese’s 36 tds, 13 ints and 58% completion isn’t very dominant. Lots of tds, but Ward had 47 tds, 10 ints, 65%. Big difference in every category. Ward threw fewer ints on 119 more pass attempts lmao

And no he’s had 68 total touchdowns including rushing, not 80

Brown will need a backup. This guy seems qualified for it

Cam threw for 7,000 yards in the Pac 12. Reese had a 58% completion percentage in FCS. I don't want to dump on the kid but people need to stop with this comparison. Just because Ward made the jump doesn't mean that every FCS QB can be QB1 at the FBS level.
It’s just a comparison of journey

I thought we only wanted 1 yr rentals? Isn’t that why we weren’t interested in any of the the younger Qbs?
The better younger QBs, other than Moore, wanted to step into starting roles. This kid knows we are looking for a QB1 still.

My mistake on the counting TDs thought that was before rushing.

But um 34 touchdown per season and being an ALL-AMERICAN isn’t playing like a 5-star at FCS level? Season averages of 3300 yds/34 TOT TD/8.5 INT.

If youre mad at having him as depth, youre probably angry about something else.

Of course Poff has 2 years of eligibility. Even IF they get their 2024 guy and Poff is his backup, we're looking at the the EXACT same room in 2025, only with a true freshman in place of the 2024 starter we don't even have yet.

Are they gonna go the portal QB route all over again next year? Or are they really about to have a battle between Poff, Emory, Judd, Jacurri and a true freshman?

This place is going to be go nuclear if we're looking at an Emory vs Poff battle.

I sincerely hope neither this kid or anyone in his family find this site and read the stuff being said about him.

His HS coach spoke to ON3 about Reese as a person, etc:

“Reese has always been an outstanding athlete,” “He was a really good basketball player, and in his sophomore and junior year he knew that he was a good athlete. But something clicked between his junior and senior year when it came to work ethic. He’s always been a hard worker but transformed, became a man in his mind in how he attacked his workouts. He became the most intelligent football player I’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching. He worked incredibly hard in the weight room and pushed his teammates to do the same. He’s a tremendous leader, knows how to get the best out of people. He will put every piece of energy in to win.”

“I think he’ll excel at Miami. People will say `Oh, he was an FCS star but the competition is a lot different.’ I’m telling you, there are few people that work like him and study the game like him. With the right coach and guys around him I don’t see any way he won’t succeed.”

The coach went on to say that In high school his idol was Baker Mayfield because no one gave Baker a chance. His recruiting process, he was going to prove everybody wrong.

"He has great accuracy, especially on the throws across the middle, incredible arm strength. What really sets him apart, though, is his ability to extend plays and be smart with the football. He takes care of the ball and a lot of quarterbacks get caught up thinking `I have to make this completion, make this happen.’ His mindset is execute the play to what it can be and after that everything you get is extra. He knows when you can take a sack, can’t take a sack, how to protect the ball, little things that are difficult to coach.”

There was one major program close to offering Poffenbarger out of high school – Penn State. But in the end the program went in a different direction. However, his Penn State recruiter, offensive coordinator/QB coach Ricky Rahne, took Poffenbarger with him to Old Dominion after taking the head coaching job there (out of high school it came down to ODU and Towson for the QB). The coach said that Poffenbarger grew 2 inches and put on 45 pounds from Junior year to the end of senior year. This is what caught the attention of Rahne..
I agree 100%

If Ward had signed initially, the same cast of idiots posting disparaging stuff now would've been overjoyed posting that he added needed depth and our backup was the FCS passing leader would've been the boast of the day.

I'm all for criticism of things you don't like or approve of but statements like this?

Gone head and get in. Bro.
