Can we get one of these write-ups with a guy who is actually coming to Paradise instead of some other camp? And maybe, if I'm not being too greedy, a guy who doesn't have some other school as his obvious #1 ... appreciate the work Stefan.
These kids, SMH
How is Stefan supposed to know if he doesn't interview them ? Lol

What I know is he has genuine interest in Miami but why go somewhere that barely speaks to you and the only time they speak to you is when you reach out. All the same time you see the same staff bending over backwards for Battle. Richt and the staff has already built a reputation of prioritizing Tri-County kids over everyone else. Is there isnt a Tri-County kid who is of equal or better talent then and only then do they go outside their borders.

I'll tell you this, If Gant was prioritized just as much as Battle, he is probably a Cane right now. The only reason why FSU has a leg up is they made him feel he is a priority not a second or third option like the Miami staff has.
That’s bull****. No one is reporting this but you. The kid was an FSU lean the moment he decommited from Bama. He has friends on the roster and on the commit list. He’s visited them over anyone any chance he has gotten. You seem like you have legit info so maybe you are just being mislead but all signs point to him being a Nole.

**** are we recruiting any DB other than Tyrique hard? Looks like half *** recruiting being done by the secondary coaches smh

Gonna have to side with the staff on this one. Gant is one of those kids that clearly is not serious about coming to the U, but he wants our full attention. If you really want to come to the U, then come to Paradise.

Oh, and he wants to wait until NSD... Nope. Red ******* flag all the way.

Keep tabs on the kid because you never know how things will play out, but he's a soft chase -- I would not go hard for this kid at all.

I had the same though re: him waiting until signing day. If we were on him hard, the mopes would have flooded the thread saying **** like "not coming," "no chance," and "we always lose these signing day battles." Half of them would have chastised the staff for wasting time and money chasing the kid.

It comes out we aren't on him anymore and now they all want to know why, claim the staff is ******* up, and think Banda should have put the full court press on. Reminds me of an old lady on a rainy day complaining she can't use the pool at her condo, then *****ing on the next sunny day because it's too hot.

What I don’t understand is , if Yal theories are right and we’ve cooled on him contacting him because we think he’s playing games or not serious or silently committed elsewhere , why are we bothering to contact at all ? If the coaches decided not to recruit him, ok that’s fine, but what’s with the half *** contact ? All these recruits are saying the same thing, not that we don’t talk to them anymore, but that’s it’s just not been as often. I just feel like if we’re going to recruit a guy then recruit him, don’t play games hitting him up here and there while going without contacting him other times. These high school kids clearly can’t handle that

Yet we was the first school he visited right after he decommitted. Came and visited and was told straight to his face he isnt top priority right now.

That's when he became a FSU lean because they made him a priority.

Bottom line our DB recruiting is suspect as ***. I still have no idea why Good has a commitable offer and we slow play studs like Gant Elam n Davis.
It wasn’t last cycle but this cycle you can definitely make he case

False...., Gant decommitted after he visited FSU and hasn’t been on Miami campus since...

That’s just not true.

And I dont understand the issue with waiting till signing day. Yall sound like those females that force their man to get engage with them before he is ready just so she can show off the ring.

If the kid wants to go thru the entire process then let him do it. You still recruit him like no tomorrow and compete. I'm beginning to feel that if Stevenson, Richards, and Bogle wasnt Tri-County kids we would probably already concede their recruitment as well.

He decommitted from Alabama long before it became public. Trust me on that.

Sounds to me like he wanted Miami to show him lots of attention so he could claim that it was a tough decision as he puts on a Noles hat.

I don't think Miami is putting all it's in one basket, I think they decided not to put a Gant egg in the basket since they caught wind that he was heavily favoring FSU. Miami's only hope would be if FSU totally screwed up his recruitment, which isn't likely. So yeah, technically he was still "open" because he wanted Miami to make it interesting, but he is going to be a Nole.

If he is going to be a Nole he would have been one already.

Because it's becoming clear we dont want to go to war for recruits. We just want kids that want to be Canes. Problem is some of these kids seem to want to be Canes more than the coaches want to fight for them which is sad.

You sound like someone who hasn't paid attention to Miami recruiting in the last 10-15 years. Whatever your personal connection to Gant, I won't speak on or even the lack of attention the staff is showing him. But his recruitment has the look and feel of one that would string Miami along till signing day and then he commits to FSU or some other southeastern power. We even have an insider(yourself) who says the kid is seriously considering Miami. I mean this is almost a textbook case. Any time a kid from out of the area starts talking about wanting to wait till signing day in February you can already decrease Miami's chances by about 20 percent.

All this fighting the good fight talk is all well and good but the writing is on the wall. Out of the area Miami commits traditionally don't wait till the first Wednesday in February to pick Miami. If the staff has figured out the game on Gant early then we're all better for it.

If FSU was the "For sure Team" he would've committed already. Recruiting leaders can change everyday it's the staff good to convince this Baller UM is the best fit. We slow play Battle, and want to chase him after OSU made him fall in love. We slow play Davis... We slow play Elam... Now we're slow playing Gant... I wonder does MR wantto win the big game. You need big time players to win big games period. Sign up Gant, and let the best Man win. If the best Man gets hurt next man up.

Yea that's all well and good if we are recruiting other targets but we aren't.

Also another thing is we dont have salesmen and closer other than Banda on the defensive staff and that's because he used to work in Sales and was a Bartender. It's like they throw their hands up an quit the moment a prospect has multiple options. The prospects that we are recruiting today never saw a successful Miami program like we did. All they have rely upon is YouTube and stories from family.

You dont stack chips by quitting during recruitment.

You do stack up 7-9 win seasons with that philosophy.

I think it was Pete Carroll who said he doesnt want all kids that make recruiting easy. He wants the kids that will make him work because they have a ton of options.

You're making no sense. They recruited Jobe until the bitter end. Even when people knew he wasn't coming. They recruited Campbell and Surtain when for quite a while that was trending the other way.

Some of you will realize at some point Miami won't "stack chips" just by recruiting hard. We're not playing the same game as other schools. It fits that talking about getting really good players over and over to commit has a money reference like stacking chips attached to it. We mostly depend on love for your city, nostalgia and pro tradition. When one of those isn't overwhelming in our favor it becomes an uphill battle.
