Seem to remember someone saying he was only going to stay through next year at most? Is it too late for us in this current realignment round?

I honestly don’t see a premier level league of 40 teams anytime soon. What I do see is the Big 2, a 2nd level conference (think Big 12/ACC combined) and the G5. With the current playoff allocations, the Big 2 can take their sweet time deciding if they want to really do a premier league. So...

All great points. Do we have SMU-level boosters that can make up the difference for the first 5-7 years?

I dunno… i think whatever moves going to be made will be made shortly… and then its quiet for the next few years. Not seeing Miami going anywhere in this upcoming wave. But win for the next few years and when the next wave hits, hopefully we’ll be right there at the most desirable.

I read somewhere that the moves coming up with have most parties satisfied. So I could see the followng happening to appease most everyone 1. FSU/Clemson to B10 (satisfies new markets and two somewhat coveted teams 2. ESPN keeps its contract with ACC and ACC finds a couple more schools to add...

Pretty much agree with this, except that I’m not sure there’s going to be urgency in doing it now or in a few years (I think I hear 2030-2032ish?). I feel pretty confident Miami will be in P2, just not sure when. While the talks might be ongoing between networks, I have a feeling the networks...

Cal/Stanford/SMU all taking partial shares for next few years, so I think their threshold won’t be too high and they’ll sign whatever. SMU only option would be B1g12 if they lost some of their other Texas schools. Cal will be good, especially if they get subsidies from B1G through UCLA. I have...

This is spaghetti against the wall. I think ACC can/will settle to let FSU/Clemson go, but I don’t see them not putting up a fight to let 4 teams leave. Just not seeing it.

Yep. When I was at college many moons ago, there was an all school meeting with students in the basketball gym. Because we had some foreign investors, everyone was saying our buildings were going to be wired for internet. Turns out the school was closing it doors for good. In hindsight, all the...

Good questions. For what its worth, I don’t feel like ESPN will enact the composition clause and I think even with FSU and Clemson gone, the remaining ACC, with Stanford, Clemson and SMU will be market value for ESPN… it just won’t be the great value it was before. I don’t think Miami will...

What makes us so confident that ESPN will definitely enact the composition clause if they allow FSU and Clemson to leave? The ACC deal was a huge value for ESPN. Even if FSU and Clemson leave, are we sure ESPN won’t still see value in ACC, especially if ACC can add another team or two? I...

My main takeaway here is there is a very likely path for the ACC to survive post FSU/Clemson. The ACC is going to do all it can to stick around and try to beat out B12 as the long term biggest non P2 conference. Totally see them trying to woo USF or UCF to replace FSU. I think long term...

I hope you’re right. I just don't have a lot of confidence in things working out smoothly in terms of our exit. FSU and Clemson leaving wont be deathblow to ACC because the ACC will be able to entice remaining members to stay. The only school that would have a STRONG P2 possibility among...

I have little faith in ACC leadership with the backdoor deals they have done in past. So do I think State of NC is going to subsidize UNC directly? No. But I wouldn’t be shocked at a scenario where the state of NC will give money to ACC to host their tournaments there and in a n head nod/wink...

ACC and FSU and Clemson are headed for divorce. IMHO, the ACC will let them go and instead focus their fight on not letting any other schools out, especially Miami for fear of total implosion. And I think the remaining institutions will vote and PASS new agreements making it harder to leave...

The more that comes out, the more I think it will be SEC. But what would keep/make B1G happy?

I see a lot of comments suggesting that if we go to playoffs this year, we will definitely be in P2 - from my limited view, I think whatever moves are going to happen, are going to happen way before next football season takes place. Seems to me that state of NC is going to do work to keep ACC...

If ND decides time to join B1G, they can name their terms and B1G wouldnt blink. That includes bringing Stanford as their partner, even at a reduced rate. Once upon a time, it seemed Miami would be ND partner, especially the longer ND wanted to stay independent. But ND fighting for ACC to take...

If FSU and Clemson go to SEC, Miami will end up in B1G. No doubt. The question would be “when”. And as someone mentioned earlier, there will be no rush to add teams after this inital wave happens. If ESPN allows ACC to stay on the ventilator by still opting into extension once the first 2...

Bubba got some ‘splaining to do to his BOT. This probably shines light on the UNC BOT as to whether they desperately wanted to keep status quo (definitely doesn’t sound that way) Wouldn’t surprise me if UNC is working behind the scenes in the same manner that Clemson was before they just filed...
