Xavier Restrepo has gone from underdog to established star, and it hasn’t slowed him down a bit. He met with reporters to discuss the offense and the Ball State game.

On Cam Ward: He's been doing the same thing ever since he's gotten in here. I think that's why we've been really successful, because we're not doing anything outside of what we’ve been doing since spring.

A very, very exceptional player. I think he's the best quarterback in college football. We love to have him on our...

How do you guys think X compares to our last really good slot receiver , Braxton Berrios?
I really can’t figure out who I would pick if I had to pick between them.

i'd take X. he's not as effective of a punt returner but i gotta be honest, i think he's better in basically every facet as a receiver. he's definitely stockier and stronger after the catch, and my impression is he's better at the catch point and as a route runner though berrios was no slouch in either of those areas.

I Hate that they get compared, im guessing it's cause there both Latino, but X is 2 inches taller and at least 20lbs heavier, X is built like a running back. so physically no comparison, in terms of skill set, very similar. X may not be the fastest, but i see a guy who is a technician with his routes and doesn't need blazing speed to get open.

I was going with the slot receiver comparison. Frankly, I keep forgetting the Berrios is Latino.
But beyond the position, both guys were dying for a scholarship from the Canes, both had many, many detractors despite their production
And both were the best receiver during their time at UM.
