I think we have first hand experience that these coaches are in fact stubborn and not all that smart even though they get paid millions. I think their HC is just that in this situation. He probably thought that he would get the sympathy from the public and not the kid.

This isn't even the coach's choice at this point..this goes to the compliance department.

Texas is the one that's hard to justify.

Their "difficult" SEC schedule was a joke. They played 6 of the 7 bottom teams in the SEC standings, Texas A&M, who they struggled to beat 17-7, and UGA, who they lost to.

Their non conference schedule was UL Monroe, Colorado State, UTexas San Antonio, and Michigan.

The only ranked team they played all year was UGA, who they lost both games to.

What did they do to EARN their ranking?

Every single point that you mentioned is . The thing that differentiated them from us(IMO) is where they started the season & how far they fell when they lost(that is where that SEC SEC SEC bias comes in at)…
