What? Go flip on the Florida tape. He was balling out early in that game. Multiple passes defended on Badger their best WR. He gave up 1 catch, but he had great coverage, and Mertz dropped it in a bucket on the sideline. He also was physical on the edge he blew up and end around or jet sweep to Eugene Wilson. I thought Demari flashed alot early in that game, then got hurt in 2nd quarter, and didn't come back all season until a few plays against CUSE.

Every CB was getting worked in the Cuse game, Porter and OJ, none were doing anything.

Who did UF immediately target in the opener? Not OJ…Damari. Billy Napier with a sack of rocks for brains knew who to go after.

Maybe nickel will allow him to be more physical and accentuate his strengths, but he definitely isn’t a starter at any boundary or outside position. Not here, and not on any program that envisions themselves a contender.

Damari has potential but isn’t this sure fire starter and his freshman year was not as impressive as people try to make it out.

This is just frustrated hyperbole. Very few if any thought CJ or Horton were elite. Horton was a starter and you don’t like to lose starters. I think we will be fine there but it is a loss.

CJ was frustrating because we lost elite speed but more importantly we have been seeing the heralded(as the future foundation of the program) 23 class just fall apart in front of our eyes. The only time CJ and elite were a pair was when it came to his speed which was on objectively true.

Lastly, Damari doesn’t suck but he sure as **** is not a penciled in starter and has proven nothing. Thats the problem with this board and others like it. If a player doesn’t suck they immediately get elevated to a great player. He had nowhere near the freshman campaign OJ just had.

im not sayng Damari is all ACC but the kid was hurt all year, have to give him a chance to compete before saying his career is done. Btw, none of this matters if the cajun goofball is back.

But Damari did play 300+ snaps his freshman year and while once again he didn’t suck, he struggled mightily. Let’s not forget that the tone on him has already changed as he was originally heralded as the outside guy. At least the board has realized nickel/STAR is his best roll. Lastly, there is still an ocean between Damari sucks and All ACC. Objectively Damari is a player with potential that can go either way right now but he is not a penciled in starter, he is a question mark through and through. That’s what most of the board has said and it’s a fair assessment.

I mean he's played an entirety of 4 quarters all year so pretty small sample size. But he needs to take a nice step over this spring + summer.

And saying the DB room as a whole is trash, doesn’t mean every individual inside of the room is trash. OJ isn’t trash, even with the bad ‘Cuse game, he has shown up and come up big several times. Damari is a huge ? mark for me right now, and apparently several others.

until we have a new defensive staff, I dont think this matters. I dont know if anyone will maximize themselves under Guidry.
