Xavier Lucas in the portal

It's not an irritation with you, as much as an exhaustion (at this point) of anyone trying to posit anything POSSIBLY VALID about what Wisconsin is doing.

1. You're wrong. Wisconsin is, and has been, refusing to process the paperwork. You can say "They can't", but they have absolutely been doing it. FOR WEEKS. The first step in getting to "four years" is by refusing to do something for four minutes, then four hours, then four days, then four weeks. If nobody fights it, then it will turn into four years.

2. He has already submitted the proper paperwork. He does not need to do so a second time. Your use of the word "may" doesn't fix your misunderstanding of the situation. He has done nothing wrong, he does not need to resubmit, he does not need to wait. He only needs his name to appear in the magical Portal website, and all will be good, and with dozens of other players entering the Portal soon, then he has not yet been "precluded" and does not have to wait until the second window.

3. You are just inventing hypotheticals that don't exist, so you can fight stupid arguments that are unnecessary. You cite a mythical "technicality you and I are unaware of" as some sort of McGuffin, but it's bull****. There is no technicality here. He didn't use a red ink pen when he should have used black or blue. That's not how this works. The Portal paperwork is shocking in its brevity and simplicity. Name, social, address, phone number, and you check the box for "No Contact" if you don't want every school to contact you. It's just that simple. I've actually seen what names look like in the Portal, there are no secret "technicalities".

Stop this nonsense.

It will all be resolved by Monday/Tuesday.

Well, as long as he used a no. 2 pencil ✏️.

I’m curious how all the pieces fit together.
Which let’s be honest, doesn’t seem to be something Mario has been good at so far

I think @Cribby has mentioned this a lot so I’ll give the credit to him but there’s a feel of slapping **** together here. Even if it’s good options there’s something to be said for being on the same page with players and coaches

Our offense was on the same page because Cam and X demanded it imo. That’s been my biggest concern with losing Cam and those guys. Hard to find players that are capable of doing that

Assuming no spring defections....it sure does smell like the following two moves might happen

- Damari to safety
- ZP to linebacker/hybrid role

And in all honesty, both moves are probably in the best long-term interests of those respective players.
Was gonna ask who would be the better safety move Damari or Lucas?? Questions for anyone in the know havent seen Lucas and not much of Damari to know

I wonder if Gaby was actually right and the plan is to play Brantley at nickel?
did he play nickel at michigan state? admittedly only seen his highlights but he looked like he played out wide

figured we'd see brantley and OJ on the ends, damari at nickel maybe - then poyser / lucas / pattesron at safeties

He played outside at MSU. IIRC, Gaby said Brantley projects at nickel in the NFL, and he thought he'd be our nickel here next year. OJ/O'Connor/Karnley are outside corners for sure, right? If we get Lucas we'll have 16-17 DBs on the rooster for Spring Practice. 3 will be out recovering from injuries, but I bet we see a bit more movement - out of the room for sure, don't know about into the room - after SP. Should be a great compeition.

Would be nice not to have to rely on the freshman let the injured guys heal up and Fitzgerald return.

CB Brantlty, o'connor OJ karnley brown mack
S Poyser lucas Patteron williams Day

Could switch lucas and brown

Also, the OL as a unit under Mirabal will always be a pro operation. That room will always have its **** together, with leaders, etc. Cam just helped facilitate that with the skill guys as well. Martinez and X as well.

The defensive side is just a mess in comparison. No one is on the same page on the field and you can zoom out to think the DC and the position coaches aren't on the same page either. Lack of professional operation on that side of the ball.

with news of tim banks turning us down - we clearly don't have a DC set in place at the moment

to not lose anybody critical on that side of the ball and to get this defensive portal class to overhaul it, without a DC or position coaches in place is actually insane
yeah but the culture sucks, Mario can’t recruit, we are broke and everyone just wants to go to the SEC/Big10!

Did I do that right ?

Agreed. You don’t get that bad on one side of the ball because you have a bad coach OR bad players

The level of dysfunction is pretty obvious when you’ve got guys with previous production literally looking like they’ve never played football before
