Xavier Lucas in the portal

From what I have seen, Wisconsin has released 26 players into the portal including some that were starters that outsnapped Lucas. It appears from Wisconsin sources that Xavier Lucas signed an NIL deal that included an up front payment (something like $500k). Wisconsin wants him to honor his deal or return the fronted money. Miami potentially tampering is not part of that disagreement. Both sides refusing to budge. Isn’t it always about the $$$$

Yes. We know. We also know that a collective cannot hold up the transfer of a player. And we know that a collective and a team cannot act as one. Hence the rules against pay for play. But for some reason, it doesn’t seem like anybody in Wisconsin is aware of this.

If true, he should give up the money, thats crazy. I find it hard to believe tho. Athletes I know even when they renegotiated large deals were getting deposits monthly. Unless they signed him for 5 mil and he getting 500k for next 10 months or something, which we all know is not true.

So the school is acting on behalf of the collective?

That up front number seems aggressive. As though it was purposeful for this situation if true.

Because if true and Miami was expected to pay for a starting corner and a $500k buyout I'd understand the hang up.

Exactly. From the NCAA's perspective, it's irrelevant if the Badgers Collective fronted him $1.5B for the 2025 season. It cannot be tied to his actually being on the team. And if it is, it's pay to play with Wisconsin now the new Pony Express.

Apparently mutual..
