Xavier Lucas in the portal

Wtf is Wisconsin playing at here? Say you force him to stay - all you're going to get is someone who's going to be a cancer to your roster because he doesn't want to be there and you're going to lose against a case against him.

On top of that you'll lose the PR battle since you're taking away the rights from this player. It's a complete lose-lose for them.

My guess on this is the Wisconsin collective made a large advance on next years NIL in hopes Lucas would stay. He decided to transfer anyway.

The collective is ****ed but doesn’t really have any contractual claim to getting paid back. They are pushing on the school to make sure every t is crossed and I dotted. Probably issues with the paperwork. Probably issues with a lot of paperwork but not all those guys got large advances. So, they got entered into the portal without issue.

Today around noon, the Lucas camp decided to go public with what’s going on. I still expect him to be in the portal by the deadline. The issue over whatever was paid will go on between his agent and the collective in the background.

Just my opinion could be totally off.

I haven't followed the saga whatsoever, but I just went over to Wisconsin 247, and they seem to think that he has money the collective gave him, and it's owed back because of his intention to enter the portal. That's why Wisconsin is holding him hostage... does that sound right? School seems to be listening to the collective, which, from what I know (very little), is illegitimate in this portal era

They are a bunch of morons. They have no idea whether he has been paid by the Collective, and more importantly, it is not for the UNIVERSITY to intervene in a THIRD PARTY CONTRACT DISPUTE.

******* idiot cheeseheads.

Not sure he’s taking money and running. Assume he hasn’t received any or all of the agreed upon money. Also, I’m sure Coach Fickell is aware coaches sign contracts all the time that some later walk away from.

Add this to the mix:

1. Regardless of if and when he took money (which is usually paid upon enrollment or the first day of classes), HAS ANYONE PRODUCED PROOF OF A REQUIRED REPAYMENT SCHEDULE? This isn't elementary school, where someone can complain that he gave you his lunch money and now wants it back. If there is a CONTRACTUAL REQUIREMENT to repay any funds (assuming such funds were actually paid), produce it and prove it.

2. Once again, it is not for THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN to intervene in a contract dispute between an individual and another entity NOT NAMED THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN.

This **** is ridiculously stupid, and the cheesehead morons can't seem to grasp that.

They’re ****ed if so. Completely illegal. X should transfer here and still sue Wisconsin for damages, having been prevented from negotiating deals the past week.

If Diego Pavia can win a court case "because of all the NIL he missed out on in JuCo", then I certainly think that Xavier Lucas can win a court case "because of all the NIL he missed out on because Wisconsin wouldn't process his Portal paperwork".

Just wondering, if he did take money when he resigned, why doesn't Miami pay it back on his behalf ala the Jaden Rashada fiasco. if I'm remembering correctly John Ruiz paid something like150k to Jaden when he committed to Miami, when he flipped to the Turds, the Turds paid back the initial payment.

Nobody at Florida, including Hugh Hathnocock, paid Jaden Rashada any money.

Deaf ears. Podcast is super annoying. Mods know everyone knows it’s annoying.
For real, I’ve tried. The automatic video that can’t be removed is misplaced and interferes with tool bar functions. It’s also problematic in that the volume automatically comes on. I was essentially told that it’s set up how they want it.

He can claim damages and he would absolutely win that case.
I question Wisconsin’s position already as it’s supposed to be what amounts to a 48 hour waiting period. They’ve intentionally exceeded that, keeping him out of the portal. I would imagine that he can go to the NCAA immediately for relief and if that isn’t resolved, sue them and Wisconsin.

Maybe they want the portal deadlines to be the next NCAA rule that gets temporarily nuked in court via injunction.
