I want the Miami Central to be looking at first over every body . That school year in and year out has tons of talent . I would like to be able to pick what we want off . MC, BTW plus the top two Lauderdae schoolsStaff cooled on Wright but IMO... Upside goes to Wright, has a high ceiling but he's very raw. Carney more ready right now and more polished. Depends what you want or need.
Staff is back on Carney now. Doesn't hurt that mother works here and brother is on the team.
Miami 3-star DE Owen Carney plans to visit Illinois, Duke
Miami (Fla.) Central defensive end Owen Carney holds at least one offer from each Power 5 conference and more than 25 offers in all, but at this point five schools are pursuing him the hardest.
“Probably Illinois, Duke, Maryland, Louisville, and Mississippi State,” Carney told Today’s U.
One thing the 6-foot-4, 232-pounder likes about those five schools is the opportunity to make an impact right away.
“Just what I’m hearing from the coaches and my chance of playing early so far, but I’ve still got to build a relationship with them and see where I stand,” Carney said.
Of those five schools, so far the three-star has checked out two of them and has plans to check out at least two more.
“I went to Louisville (on Friday), it was nice,” Carney said. “They built a new facility so they have some big changes coming. I’ve been to Mississippi State, they got a great facility and the coaching staff is awesome. They have a lot of coaching experience on the defensive side of the ball.
“I’m going to Illinois on the 28th and Duke, I’m probably going to see them on my official visit and Maryland most likely on my official visit,” Carney said. “I didn’t set those yet, the only one I’m going to for sure is Duke, but there’s a good chance those schools get an official visit from me.”
There are two more offers that could still come along that interests the aggressive defensive end.
“Probably Auburn and Florida State,” Carney said. “By the end of the month, I should know where I stand with all my offers.”
As a junior, Carney had 17 tackles, three tackles for losses, four sacks, two forced fumbles and 10 quarterback hurries through six games.
“Coaches like my motor and the way I get after the quarterback,” Carney said. “They say I’m going to kill it at the next level with the right coaching, so I’m looking forward to that.”
The 247Sports Crystal Ball is split 50-50 between Miami and Duke, but the three-star said he isn’t sure why, noting that Miami isn’t near the top of his list.
“Miami has always been around,” Carney said. “I don’t know where that came from, with the 50-50, but I’ll let it stay as that. Miami is around, they aren’t on my highest but they aren’t on my lowest either.”
Carney plans to graduate early and enroll in the spring at whichever school he chooses so he can get a head start in the classroom and on the field during spring football. With that in mind, he has a little less time to figure things out due to those plans.
“I know I’m graduating early and being a midyear guy,” Carney said. “That being said, I’m probably going to make my decision in December, but I will put my five official visits out in August. I guess you can call it my top five, just letting everyone know where my official visits are.”
Carney’s decision will ultimately come down to a few key factors.
“The defensive scheme, how well they fit me, just being comfortable, asking myself can I really stay there four years and just loyalty and honesty form the coaching staff,” Carney said.

Link to article where Owen Carney sounds a little salty about being slow played by UM, but appears okay with FSU slow playing him. The young man just needs to be patient and sign with UM in the end which would be a win win for all involved.
