WR Isaiah Johnson commits to UF

Offensive minded head coach with a track record of putting points on the board....can anyone really blame him? Toss in the Dwyer pipeline through the years (have we ever actually signed anyone from there, forget verbal) under the current head coach.

The only one we have got was Rashad Butler under Jack Daniels.

Most people were shocked when he picked us anyway. This was clearly a "commit to um to get ufs attention" situation. Oh well. Cross him off the list and dial up one of the other 25 stud WRs on the board.

The thing I really liked about Johnson is that I saw him as a mismatch from the TE position. I was watching some of our TEs last year in practice and half of them was so stiff, they couldn't even run a route. Sometimes I question why more universities do not go with more athletic tight ends who are good route runners to create mismatches. Some may be concerned with blocking but to be real every HS tight end will have to learn to block properly once they hit college. I hope we close on Upshur/Irvin and then add Pinder and another elite WR. Its still early so we can definitely potentially close strong, especially if we have a good season.

Kid is not really committed anywhere. Just heard today he might decommit from UF. No matter what he is a kid who will be a last minute deal it seems.

This is the first time I have ever said this because I had mixed feelings about it previously..but not anymore..I am joining the bandwagon of the people who say that if a recruit commits to a school, they gotta sign a LOI (in other words, have an early signing period) if they are not willing to sign an LOI, then they cannot make a commitment to that school. This is getting downright stupid.

Well UF was his 3rd commitment and he has another year left... with all the WRs in this class, I would not waste anymore time on a Dwyer kid. Surprised that he is not rated higher based on his commitments and decommitments alone.

Yes let's ignore one of the most talented HS in Florida.

I think he's talented sure, but the way he used Sean Taylor's name in vain and then decommitted. That's not cool.

Agreed, because all time spent there for more than 10 years now has been 100% wasted. The result is actually worse than had we allocated all Dwyer time elsewhere.

Huh? So he was drinking when he committed? I know they're 17 year olds, but .....
