I wonder who is paying for this game match up considering both teams have to travel to Michigan? An since they are parochial schools why not have the game at Notre Dame. Michigan is blatantly giving the NCAA & the rest college football the finger, with this move.

Jim Harbaugh's favorite New Jersey high school is playing a game in Michigan Stadium

Harbaugh's ties to Paramus Catholic keep growing stronger, and that helps Michigan's recruiting.

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has already laid pretty substantial groundwork at Paramus Catholic, the New Jersey school that produced top overall 2016 prospect and Wolverines commit Rashan Gary.

Harbaugh is giving the commencement speech to seniors at the school on Thursday, after he hosts a big satellite camp there on Wednesday.

Now Harbaugh's program will host Paramus Catholic on its own field. The Paladins will open their 2016 season with a game at Michigan Stadium on Sept. 2, which will bring a couple more blue-chip recruits right to Michigan's doorstep.

The Wolverines are recruiting four-star Paramus Catholic linebacker Drew Singleton and defensive tackle Corey Bolds for 2017, plus four-star quarterback Allan Walters for 2018.

They'll all get a nice, close look at the Big House, and it won't count as one of their five "official visits," even though they'll literally be using the same facilities as Michigan's players. In that sense, it's a genius maneuver by Harbaugh.

It's not unusual for high school teams to play games in college stadiums, but it's definitely uncommon for teams to cross state lines (or several state lines) to do it. ESPN noted that, beside Paramus Catholic and its St. Frances (Md.) opponent, 14 other teams were slated to play this year at the Big House, and all were Michigan schools.

Star Michigan defensive back Jabrill Peppers played at Paramus Catholic, too, and former head coach Chris Partridge is now on Harbaugh's staff. The Wolverines' connection to the school isn't an entirely new thing. It's not going away anytime soon.

Crazy Jim should do whatever he wants. At least it's somewhat transparent. The $EC coaches will scream and cry but they don't fill those dufflebags with tears, do they? The only thing the NCAA can and should do is strictly enforce those staff limits as Harbaugh shouldn't be able to hire high school coaches of big recruits on a regular basis.

Paramus Catholic-St. Frances will cover own expenses to play at Michigan Stadium

NEWARK, N.J. -- When Paramus Catholic High School takes on St. Frances Academy (Maryland) on Sept. 2 at Michigan Stadium, the respective high schools will be covering the expenditures and keeping the gate money.

Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh said Thursday that the Paramus-St. Frances game at Michigan Stadium was not his idea. He was made aware of it, of course, but he says the contest was not something he suggested or lobbied for.

"I haven't been involved in that," Harbaugh said. "There's (also) a group in Michigan that's setting up multiple games as I understand it, I don't know how many.

"(But) it's not my idea. I can't take credit for that one."

Paramus Catholic president Jim Vail said that either one or both of the high schools will cover the costs that come with renting Michigan Stadium for the game, and the schools will then keep whatever money the game generates as a result.

He wasn't sure quite yet if it will be a Paramus home game on paper or a shared home game, but he was clear that Michigan will have no financial involvement in the event.

He estimated that the total cost will come in somewhere between $12,000-$14,000.

"Are we going to pay all the rent and keep all the gate or split the expenses and the (gate), we'll still have to work that out," Vail said. "One or both of the high schools will be paying the expenses and keeping or sharing the gate.

"I don't have (the exact rental cost) in front of me, I saw a proposal that was itemized and such, and we'll probably not use everything that was offered but I think it'll be somewhere between $12-14,000."

Paramus has played at college venues before, as Vail explained that the school has had high school games at Rutgers in the past.

He said the idea to play a game in Michigan was one that was brought up some time ago, but wasn't finalized until this year because of where the dates fell.

"(An event like this) came up a long time ago and initially, I didn't think it was a great idea because I wouldn't do this if we had to miss school," Vail added. "But as it evolved, and it landed on Labor Day weekend, you don't miss school. So, for us Jersey folks, Labor Day and Memorial Day weekend are kind of sacred to spend at The Shore. But if the kids and their families want to spend their weekend at the Detroit airport and the hotel and do this and pay for it, it's fine with me because we're not missing any school time.

"Since the families are paying and we don't miss any school if that's what (the football team) wants to do (then I'm good with it)."

ESPN reported earlier this week that NCAA rules will prohibit Michigan's coaching staff from attending the high school game Sept. 2.

However, players involved in the game will be allowed to make unofficial visits to campus the following day when the Wolverines open their 2016 season at home against Hawaii.

The 2016-17 NCAA recruiting calendar will begin its evaluation period on Sept. 1.

Players are permitted to make official (paid for by the college) and unofficial (paid for by the prospect) visits to campuses during evaluation periods.

Michigan Stadium will also play host to 14 different high schools for a "Battle at the Big House" from Aug. 25-27.

Harbaugh said those games were not his idea, either.

When he starts going to Paranos for diamonds in the rough with no tangible link to Michigan, that is when Harbaugh takes The Recruiting Game to a new level.

And the more info that comes out, the more blatant the flaunting of the recruiting rules. It cost more to get married at midfield in the big house than what Michigan is renting it to Paramus Catholic for.

Paramus Catholic High School to play at University of Michigan's Big House to open season

Paramus Catholic to open its season at Michigan's Big House

Paramus (N.J.) Catholic High School will open its season with a game inside the Big House at the University of Michigan the day before the Wolverines' opener against Hawaii. The Paladins will play St. Frances Academy of Baltimore at 7 p.m. ET on Sept. 2.

It was announced earlier that there will be 14 other high school teams set to square off in Michigan Stadium Aug. 25-27. Those teams are all in-state programs and include Detroit Catholic Central, Ann Arbor Pioneer, Farmington Hills Harrison, Brighton, Detroit East English Village and others.

These games are believed to be the first high school regular-season games played inside Michigan Stadium since at least the 1970s.

The announcement for Paramus Catholic continues its relationship with Michigan, as former Paramus Catholic head coach Chris Partridge is now Michigan's linebackers coach. The high school has sent three former prospects to Michigan, including No. 1-ranked Rashan Gary and No. 2-ranked Jabrill Peppers; also, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is scheduled to speak at the Paramus Catholic commencement this year.

Steve Kanoc, Paramus Catholic assistant coach and director of football operations, said the idea came from Harbaugh and the Paladins' president, Jim Vail, in 2015.

"They were talking back and forth and Harbaugh said it would be great to have us play a game by them," Kanoc said. "Our president thought it sounded good, but wasn't sure if we would be able to make it work. After we sat down as coaches and talked about it, we said it would be a great opportunity for the kids to stay the next day and see Rashan's first game."

The game is open to the public and will be $5 at the gate. The cost for Paramus Catholic to rent the facilities was $12,000, so the admissions fees will go to the school to recoup that cost.

The teams will take buses from their respective schools to Ann Arbor, which is a nine-hour drive for Paramus Catholic. They will leave early Thursday morning, stay at a hotel near campus, play the game Friday and stay Saturday for the Wolverines' game against Hawaii.

NCAA rules prohibit the Michigan football coaches from attending the game Friday, but the prospects can meet with the coaches Saturday as a normal unofficial visit.

That prospect list will include Paramus Catholic teammates Drew Singleton, the No. 2-ranked prospect in New Jersey, and Corey Bolds, the No. 6-ranked prospect in the state. Both prospects are considering Michigan and hold offers from the Wolverines.

Also Wednesday, the Paramus football field was found littered with Rutgers magnets, a stuffed animal teddy bear and an undisclosed note with the bear. The police were called to investigate the vandalism.

The stunt comes on the day of the Next Level football camp, a satellite camp at Paramus Catholic featuring over 40 college coaches, including Harbaugh. The tension has been building toward this event between Michigan and Rutgers. When it was announced Michigan was participating in the camp, Rutgers immediately responded by holding a camp of their own on the same day at the same time.

pretty sure Paranos is contractually restricted from working with other schools. Nice try, though.

I'd be pretty ****ed if my school was using budget money to go play in a state hundreds of miles away because of some CFB coach wanting an in on football kids.

Pretty sure the HS programs have already been "guaranteed" they will make money on this Michigan recruiting junket.

They're going to spend $12k but keep the gate, and be certain that Michigan has made it crystal clear to its fans that they should fill that stadium, as it couldn't hurt recruiting to put a few hundred g in the pockets of those HS programs. Maybe the HS coaches will even see "bonuses" for having to travel to coach this game.

All greed. Follow that paper.

LOL at all the Harbaugh fanboy fckboys.

Ohhhh, eff him and his schtick but to get sand in your ****** over this like Paranosboy Cane has is kinda not seeing the forest for the trees. I personally just take joy in the scumbags in the SEC crying over someone potentially outwitting them at a game they thought they could always win at just by cheating. Disirregardless, none of this should even matter to us as winning and pure geography should insulate Miami.

When Booker T or Central head up there to play then I'll start to really worry but this may give FSU and UF and idea to host a Friday night game before a Saturday home game
