Women vs Tennessee

Just a heads up for any in the Miami area -- the ladies take on Tennessee today in what should be quite the game. Tipoff is at 2:05pm, and tickets are available on HurricaneSports.com in a special 2 for $5 promotion (you also get a ticket to the Penn State game in ten days).

The women lost two great players in Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams (both in the WNBA now), but they've returned a solid, young, hungry team. Their season opener last weekend resulted in them holding North Florida to only 24 points for the entire game -- a school defensive record.

We got killed. Down 25 at the half, lost by 12. Tennessee was coming off a loss to UT-Chattanooga.

We played a terrible game today. Lots of energy and hustle, but we could not buy a basket for the first 30 minutes of the game. We finished the game shooting 19% from downtown, 32% from the field, and 59% from the line (according to the arena scoreboard). Many of those missed FGs were layups; we were getting good shots and we simply kept missing layup after layup after layup. I give the team credit, though; they fought back hard from down 26 and cut the deficit all the way to 6, missing an open three that would have cut it to 3 with about two minutes left. Just not our day, though.
